police charge- drug possesion

hi all i know someone who last week was caught in possesion of 8 grams of pure speed,he is suffering alot of personal heartache at the moment and that is the reason he has turned to drugs,i am sure when i first started i was told if you got into trouble with the police you have to inform your manager? he hasnt said anything at the moment as he is hoping to get away with a warning or a fine as he is a first time offender,is there anyway of royal mail finding out if he dosent inform them?

I'm sure you have to tell them if you get a 'criminal conviction.'
Again,i'm sure i saw a poster at my DO once.

But unless you are grassed and it's in the papers ect how would they know.

And just a word of "Caution".
Even though a police caution is not a criminal conviction your employer can be notified.
