ask him whether the iwt has thrown up this saving. then ask for the proof and the facts and figures. because we also have been told to lose 90 hours by the dom, but iwt says 40 so 40 it is as per nationally agreed guidelines.

Is there a single office in the U.K. where hours are being put back in?
What a crock of sh*t this "agreement" is turning out to be.

I still cannot get my head around our union, or any union for that matter, agreeing to this madness.fishtank wrote:Is there a single office in the U.K. where hours are being put back in?![]()

It has absolutely nothing going for it, as far as the front-line staff are concerned, but has everything our crass senior management need to shrink the workforce further.
I never, in all my born days, thought I'd hate a union, as much as I do a bad management set-up.

Re: Savings plan disguised as revision.
Well we kind of fell lucky our DOM has been screwing us telling our office we need to lose 46 hours and the IWT has told us we only need 6 hours out and we have someone taking a 10 hour buy down. The DOM was using figures from years ago and our union rep is currently going to war with him trying to sort this major f##k up out!!!

Re: Savings plan disguised as revision.
The actual agreement puts budget last. If a DSM/DOM has his own policies...well....you know what to do.....
Also if people hate the union then please leave.I also know for a FACT that there are members of management on here who are stating things in their "un-educated posts" and have no intention of changing attitiudes. In fact they are worse then ever OR the deal is working in some places that they are that frustrated. Take your pick......
please bear this in mind. Nothing will ever be plain sailing in Royal Mail...never has been...never will be.
If you look at Mr Hoopers report,(and Lord Sawyers as well), industrial relationships is the first page. All the other stuff was beneath it.

I wonder if we all put a freeze on our subscriptions and tell the CWU heirarchy to get this nonsense sorted out, and until they do they get nothing. I think they might sit up and take notice.

Be careful...maybe that is what they want you to do. Then this will follow :
Monthly pay
No sick procedure
No consultation in planning
No consultation in Discilpine
No protection of Terms & Conditions
75% Part time,(Bags dropped at your house)
All Contracts to be reverted into Fix term and flexible for Christmas
No SA holiday Payments
Banking Hours
Delivery Office To Delivery Office,(much like the retail one on John Lewis)
Cessation of Delivery Supplement
Cessation of all allowances

Re: Savings plan disguised as revision.
I hear what you are saying DRB but it seems to most of us that this union have already thrown away most of our consulting rights, and the small amount that are left they just pay lip service to, so I dont think that we have too much to lose. and I am suggesting that this is a short term measure to get Billy, Dave and Co out of their nice cushy armchairs, and stop all of the nonsense we are seeing in respect of the iwt, pegasus and all the other work measure tools, that are designed for one reason and one reason only, and that is to fit in with Royal Mails budgets. To say that budget is put to the back of all local negotiations is an utter nonsense. It is controlling everything and everyone.

It's easy, and i know managers are on and reading this, but tell them to f**k off and go through the proper channels and the agreement that has just been ratified!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Savings plan disguised as revision.
I really understand what you are saying. However by the mere fact that you are on this forum and replying and quite emotive tells me lots of things. However one thing stands out.You are a minority. The majority are killing us. Who you may ask? Leighton? Gone! Crozier? Gone!
No I am talking about our membership! Yes our membership who run around like wallys, making cuts. The business only propose what they see! The new tools are like this..it's quite amazing really as it works in most places.
If one person comes in early,(for example), and it's inputed on the duty tool...it throws everything off kilter. It kicks hours out...really!! One person........
Now lets put everything on a tabletop revision. We make everything into a 2 hour span and compare it to the mail coming in at 6:15 and 10:00. I guarantee you our boys will be out at 8:00 delivering a quarter or half a walk. Now what do we do with the rest of the time they make? Do we ballot for it when the business point it out? We used to because our reps at local level protected them with the IR framework and were aware of national agreements and the business did not have a clue.
Not so now.A manger has the backing of HR and legal beagles.Fairplay to the rep...he battles on. Enough though. You need to support the rep as much as possible now.
This deal NEEDS to be sabotaged by certain elements of management. For example the CMA are being told...your attendance patterns will be judged by what the office wants. Also they are being TOLD...longer Saturdays for them are longer Saturdays for you. Leaving the union, for however long,is not the answer. We need to punch contructive arguments on this deal. Not just the obvious. For example...what happended to the later mail for the public? Think!

It's the iwt that is killing us POSTMAN...it is f***ing merciless...it should never have been agreed but that's the point it's agreed so no point in telling them to f**K off really is there?POSTMAN wrote:It's easy, and i know managers are on and reading this, but tell them to f**k off and go through the proper channels and the agreement that has just been ratified!
...and drb..managers don't stick around until finishing time on a saturday now...why would they give a s**t if it changes to 1500.
