Does the 39 hour week come into force when your Do has had a walk sequenced revision or when the whole unit has ie the whole of liverpool post code area

I’m not sure if this could be implemented at a local or even a regional level. My guess is that it would have to be national.

In which case April 2013 would be the start date, as that is the date given for completion of the revisions and the implementation of all aspects of the 2010 agreement.

Looks a bloody long way off! God knows what will have changed by then?

No it comes in when your unit has a Walk Sequencing revision as per page 71 of the 2010 and Beyond Agreement.

Also, won't that create a disparity. You could have one DO on 39 hours and the adjacent one on 40 hours yet both being paid the same? Don't think I like the idea of that at all!

Most people will be in around 10 - 15 mins earlier than start time every day anyway
so what u going to do now come in bang on time?
AND HAVE THE SAME WORKLOAD BUT MORE RUSHED

Not you personally straightforward, but we all know we make time on Monday and/or Tuesday whether it be going slow out on delivery or getting away early so who gives a s**t about an hour, forget it, you make it anyway

Don't you understand him ...... Your pulling the wool because you ain't going in early to throw mail and D2D's in, your pulling the wool because you won't do your delivery in your car, and because you won't run round like a fool . If your like me you do the job properly, take seriously the responsibility of customers mail, sadly we are in the minority, people like sexy legs, continue to ruin our reputation and down grade the service we provide to our customers delivering their mail anywhere, leaving packets on door steps, not caring 2 hoots about the security of the mail as they have 4 or 5 bags in the car on full view, whilst they are running round. Then have we go on and put right the mistakes and appolagise to our customers, take flack off the manager because the likes of sexy legs absorb and you don't..... But the managers luv em'. Don't book no docket, break every rule in the book and get away with it, do anything they are told, etc etc...... Every time sexy legs comments on a thread he is on managements side probably because of his loyal service to management he has been awarded an easy run... er i mean walk (plenty of this sort in our office) and he doesn't need to "pull the wool"......

Look the 39 hour week is a step in the right direction it brings working time down below 35 hours when you include your meal reliefs.

When you have your sequencing revison geo route and iwt will measue your work over 39 hours rather than 40 hours , plus you may choose to use the 1 hour reduction on tuesday which is a particular light day or spread it over more days. Equally you now recieve your pay for working 39 hours rather than 40. This will increase overtime rates and have a benefit in future pay rises. Part timers will recieve a pay increase as their hourly rate will go up.

The shorter working week is worth 2.5 % and no other union this year has got a pay rise and a shorter working week. Some have got one or the other but not both.

Yes people can moan that some will continue to work more hours by coming in before time , but equally the old joke still applies to many when you say you got a shorter working week of 39 hours someone always says I AM NOT WORKING THAT MANY HOURS FOR ANYONE !!

I think you're misunderstanding the complaints here Dingo. Although on paper, a reduction in the working week looks good. It's no different to when we went down to 40 hours. In other words, it's barely noticable, and gains us nothing worth the effort.

Having said that: The majority seemed to want it to happen, so it's something that the Union duly fought for and won for us. I just wish people would think these things through, before mythering for them! RM aren't going to give us something for nothing. So why ask for something you'll barely notice?!?

I bet they will reduce the working day by 12mins......big ******* deal! How about bringing in clocking in/out machines....or do RM know that will cost them a lot more in wages!
