Park and Loop.

Hi Everyone, Just wondering does anyone know a answer to this, a young girl in my office has past her driving test about five months ago, she reckons she can drive Royal Mail Vehicles straight away, most firms like people to have a few years experience first in driving, also will the same rule apply to those who wants to drive the park and loop vans.
She reckons she will get a cushy walk out of it..
They asked another guy in our office today would he drive the park and loop vans, he said MAYBE, but he won't sign anything to commit himself in case of a clause, like taking him off earlys and banging him on lates

Hi Eric,

A few years back Royal Mail actually used to have an instructor to teach cadets to drive and once they passed their test they went straight onto a driving job. I think your colleague will have to wait her turn like everyone else to get any driving. In my office 80% of the drives are far heavier than the walks anyway.

Park and Loop gone ever so quite down my neck of the woods and if asked all you get is a shrug from the dom. Funny how she was banging on about it and how great it was going to be before the agreement though.

I had driving lessons when I was a cadet.

I think it was little things like that that made it a really good job.

School leavers could come in without the best O-levels or GCSE's and get a good start and have a job for life if they were prepared to work for it.

For shame what has happened to the company.

Our rurals are longer than the town walks but they are supposed to be and they leave the office earlier and finish at the same time.
The businesses are roughly the same as the town walks.

its delivering as a pair and until the duties are designed/picked you dont have a clue what duty is what
then you have little/no control (seniority dependant) on who you are paired with

In my office the firms finish the same time as the walking town deliveries which is normally about an hour before me and the rurals.

Without taking sides it appears that Pegasus is a steaming pile.

This board seems to disprove the notion that all walks are made more or less equal!

With standardized walks, there shouldn't be hours of difference between the first and the last in.

This is what I don't like tbh, I could put up with doing a crap park and loop duty but I will not work with someone I can't get on with. I think to an extent people should be allowed to pick who they want to work with or not work with because putting two people together that don't get on or simply hate each other is gonna be a disaster.

well thats one of the problems
in our DO duties were picked on seniority
however one person must be a driver
so if a driver picks first then anyone can pick the partner duty
however if a non driver picks 1st the the partner must be a driver

Our rurals leave the office before the town and business duties, but they're rarely back before them .....sometimes up to an hour later.
As for park and loop, aint it gone quiet .........
