Undelivered D2D

Just wondering, now that d2d is in our workload ,am i right in thinking that because they should all be delivered there should be no returns? Because in our office we have yorks full of undelivered d2d.So if they cant return them ,what happens to them? Will they be destroyed the same as sensitive waste? And isnt that classed as wilful delay because they havent been delivered? And also are RM commiting FRAUD by accepting payment for delivery and then not delivering them ? And why has it all gone tits up regarding d2d.....???

An extract from the D2D INTO WORKLOAD Document

1.The returns process will cease one week after the national agreement comes into force, giving time to remove any undelivered items remaining from the pre-agreement period. Steps have been taken to stop surplus items being provided to delivery offices, so there should be no sizeable volumes remaining undelivered in the office. Any surpluses should be investigated as the system is not able to provide additional labels and therefore boxes of items. All delivery points (except opt outs) should be delivered so that any occasional surplus materials may be disposed of locally.

Fraud lol what about the amount of addresses that RM sell to Companys that don't exist anymore... i.e Sky, Virgin Media - still more than 8 years later am getting mail for 3 streets that don't exist, i've filled in the gone away stickers properly by saying No Such Address an lo-n-behold still getting them( and what a pain in the arse it is doing your Gone-Aways on these days), DOM says that RM sell them the addresses, thou it's these Companys fault by now as i wonder who deals with their Returned Mail??? They'd save a small fortune by getting it sorted!

Actually its not RMs fault as they do provide a service which updates addresses every 3 months or so (via the A Plus system I think) for companies that pay for it.

Virgin and Sky buy and sell marketing lists to each other as do other companies, the problem is these lists are quite expensive and difficult to keep up to date. The company see the bottom line - if it costs them 20p per returned letter its probably cheaper than employing someone to update their address files.

I am guessing that employing someone to do that job is fairly low skill so probably around £6 per hour or £48 a day to make this viable even using the 20p figure to make worthwhile saving they would have to process over 30 address per hour for the whole 8 hours (30 is break even) or one every 2 minutes on a perfect day.

TBH its not a difficult choice and for RM at the moment the more traffic the better, although granted for us on the shop floor its a PITA.

yep, it's the same in our office too. the manager doesn't care about whether the d2d's get done on lapsing / split deliveries....it really is a worry!!!!

Hand them/report them to a manager.

And make sure a record is kept of the fact that it's failed. Otherwise the problem will be brushed under the carpet.
