D2D rules about 1/6th a day
hi Please can some one show me in the rules of the D2D on preperation for them . I am a floater ,but sometimes i get to do the same round all week . I would like to prep all my D2D for the whole week and leave 1/6th to the floater . I did this once and was told i can only prep 1/6th a day and that they all must be delivered on that day .I think this makes the week harder & heavier as it gets to the later wed, thur & friday. I have read in the forum about some people preping all and others not .I have tried to find but cannot locate it in black & white to show my manager. thanks

Re: D2D rules about 1/6th a day
1/6th a day is only a guidline not set in stone(unless you have a local agreement)
There is something in 2010 agreement that states duty holders are responsible for the prep and delivery of d2d as they wish or words to affect of.
Not computer literate enough to show exact quote but sure it will be done soon by a few with a few diferent interpratations.
If you want to prep all d2d on Monday(-floats) and deliver them over week or by Friday that is perfectaby acceptable

"duty holders are responsible for the prep and delivery of d2d" - that should be the best way of doing it, leaving one-sixth for the cover on your day off, etc.
but it's when the duty holder is on holiday or sick that chaos ensues and they often end up not being delivered.

Re: D2D rules about 1/6th a day
The 1/6 per day guideline was for your own benefit to provide measured indoor workload for each day and avoid lapsing.
If you don't have the sense to see this then i am afraid you are beyond help.

Re: D2D rules about 1/6th a day
Initially the agreement did appear to allow for some scope in terms of how the workload (D2D's) could be managed over the course of the week.
However, delivery managers were anxious to tie the union and staff to a specific amount per day.
My advice would be to assess the amount of work (lapsing)that you have for the day,the extra workload in terms of prepping
AG walks and then lapsing another duty means not only is it reducing time to be able to do households, but you cannot expect
to ready them all say on monday, and refuse to do anything else.
To be honest you won't get any better thought of for doing any extra, and you certainly won't get paid any more,so just do the
bare minimum.

Re: D2D rules about 1/6th a day
Prepping them all on a Monday for week and taking out where you are going over week is sensible for maybe 2-3 d2d (sure some will disagree) but is difficult(if not impossible) for 4,5,6 and were common sense from people should be used and maybe why the guidlines are there.

These guidelines are just that....guidelines.
But so are not coming in early, taking your meal relief and not using your car on delivery.
If you want to ignore any of these D2D guidelines to save a bit of time and make your life a bit easier then that is up to you but remember the next time you climb up on your high horse about any of the other ways that bleed hours out of your office...you are just doing the same thing.

Re: D2D rules about 1/6th a day
Never come in early, always take my break(20 mins before leaving office) just started using car after many years of not, Had all the discussions with colleagues about above even had office "doing the job properly" at one stage(for a short while). Boils down to people will do what they want and preaching is futile.
Just go in be true to yourself then go home.
Then spend rest of day on here contradicting yourself

Thats heresy to my mbrs, they think the union should fight to allow them to have their cake and eat it!!!

Sad fact is most people that i see are still trying to do their d2d as quick as possible to get their flyers and get home as quick as possible,in doing so the've given up all their d2d earnings up for nothing! I've come to the conclusion that perhaps we really do deserve the wages we're going to be earning in a few years.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

About time some staff wake up + face reality, job + finish is well gone......do the D2D as it says on the tin + dont try + find a way to make it easier for them to find even more savings.

We had a postie come in today off holiday to take his door2doors home to prep for his return this week.
We also had another one who gets in 1 hour early for free and when they asked him to do more he resigned after 15 years. Just like that.
When will these posties learn????

Re: D2D rules about 1/6th a day
Our floaters don't take any D2D's and are not challanged! I'll be buggered if i am taking extra than my 1/6th just cause some lazy s**t can not be bothered to throw roughly 60 D2D's in!
