9am Special Deliveries

I live in a town called Nairn 16 miles east of Inverness and we are exempt from the 9am delivery time but we still get the odd few so when i turn up at a door say about eleven o'clock and the person knew it was supposed to be there for nine they ain't to happy, what i can't understand is when the customer is at the Post Office sending the item the system does not tell the counter staff that it can not be delivered for nine.

Theres no 'system' as such,it's down to the PO clerk,common sense,they must know the score.
They would have to read the address when processing it,unless it's from a firm with bulk Reg,in a made up Reg bag.
Just laziness from the clerk,or perhaps they haven't been bloody told.
But saying that,why don't the Drivers do it,they do down here,would save a lot of hassle.
What does your dom do/say.

Just tell them it's their fault for living at the back of beyond.

This subject reminds me of summit that happened recently
On a Sat went to the cage to collect Specials prior to going out, when I noticed that one was a 9am
pointed this out to the locker-man who said " it dont count on Sats" fair enough said I
When I turned up to deliver mentioned Special at 12.30, customer was furious,
gave them the national tele no, and carried on with argument stating that the sender had paid over
the top so they could get the Special b4 9am (double the normal special price)

Q Why take peoples money on a Fri- when we do not provide that service on a Sat?????????

i would assume the customers receipt at the PO would have shown the Monday 9am as the guaranteed delivery time
so technically you were 46 hours early

To me 9am is 9am whether it's Monday to Friday or a Saturday.

When you send a Special Delivery they enter the postcode of the recipient. There are certain areas that are exempt from the SD guarantee (mainly Highlands and Islands) and it is flagged up on the screen.
I often send Special Deliveries to PA postcode and they always tell me it is not guaranteed the next day.

Twice I've had special Deliveries with the red 9am stickers but just £5ish not £10ish meter postage paid. - either businesses pulling a fast one or making a mistake, but I've taken them early anyway as it's a break from the office and my coffee should still be warn when I return.

On the other Side of the coin I had one on Saturday and I got there at 842 waking the recipient. He wasn't happy. No pleasing some people.

Stayed there on a couple of visits with the missus.

Golf view and Invernairne.
