My mate works for a private leafleting firm,and he gets £30 per 1000 (3p each)his boss is obviously making on top of this.Just think how much RM has conned us over the years.They cream all the rewards,while we all get overworked,their business strategy is like something in a Charles Dickens novel.

Someone(sore feet) posted on here regarding the malarkey after the Rodger Annis stuff,and i seem to rem bits as well.
Seems they make with 3 about £118M and pay out £20M in wages.
There was this massive poster that they put out at work as well summin like up to £600M they could make if we up the amount we do.

Fair enough,the business needs it,especially at the mo,but pay us for it ffs,stop trying to screw us over.

Looking at the table Postman has posted a link to, the cheapest they charge is 3.65 pence per item, which is seemingly a lot cheaper than they used to charge (wonder why that is, eh?), as one of my customers got a quote a while back of 5 pence per item for a very light, small leaflet.

SO when we start delivering six D2Ds a week, half of our wages will be made up by D2D payments

There's this old guy that goes around my walk delivering leaflets and i asked him how much he got paid. He said £25 per 1000 but he will only take on the work if they have a min of 4 contracts. The day i spoke to him he was doing 6 lots.

He must be knocking 70 years of age and does one 1000 batch a week taking about 4 days using his own car. He and said he only walks for about 3 hours a day max.

So the week i saw him he was earning £150 for 12 hours walking which aint bad really. I would recon a fit postie could knock out a 1000 in a couple of days easy.

Right hope this helps in your quest in finding out how much we"ve been screwed.We had the London paper,a Ken Livingstone freebie that was a d2d each month,but not to every walk.They seemed to rotate the paper.I used to get them as a d2d around every 3-4 months and they were 2p or very near that price,back in 2005.My kids also delievered these papers with the local Informer or whatever the local rag was called then and they got 10p per paper.

Ok, the most expensive per 1000 price I can see is about £100, which equates to 8p each (approx). So say you're on a walk with 500 delivery points (to make the maths easier) and 5 door to doors, thats £20.60 for you and £200 for Royal Mail. That would seem like a profit of £180 per postie but once you take out overheads, printing and distribution costs, I'd be very surprised if RM are making £80 per postie.

Before you lot get on your high horse and accuse me of being a manager, I'm not sticking up for them, I just don't see how those sort of profits (a) make it a viable product or (b) will pay the pension deficit ??

Oh and at less than £40 per 1000 for an A4 sheet, and your first go free, I predict lots more sh1t coming our way....................................

I personally don't see why posties are delivering marketing in this day and age, when we have the internet...

RM sets up official e-mail address for every address in the country, although perhaps it would be better to use individuals listed on Council tax.

If you have no PC and/or internet, RM either sells basic package, or increases revenue from stamps to cover the cost.

Companies then pay RM to allow their marketing through the e-mail filter.

RM gets their money; companies get their spam cold calling; paper is not used for what I believe is pretty much a dead cycle (i.e. I doubt anything like 79% of customers appreciate D2D, especially now its upto 5 per week); posties get significant weight and bundle reductions...

Because, like it or not, people DO notice leaflets put through the door which is not so much the case with email spam. Royal Mail wouldn't be so keen on Door To Doors if they weren't so profitable.
