Where do you start?
Some people have been lapsing, 20-25 mins daily, others have no time and refuse, on the grounds they will be not completing there own dely if they have to lapse another round.
Many of us "take our time" and hemmer the overtime, and go home as fresh as the minute we started in the morn :nana

Today, we ( the rest)got told to stream their own delivery, but had to take first class on their lapsed bit on the separate dely- seems our area rep agreed this wi the dom, to carry out our uso of delivering all first class mails, mails integrity bullshit.

Seems like yet another national agreement broken, thank you.

I find it very hard to imagine an ADR agreeing to that,try to get conformation.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Found out today that in my DO a couple of the 25 hour part timers have been asked to start 30 minutes earlier, on o/t, so they can take out 30 minutes of lapsing! Kind of defeats the purpose of lapsing doesn't it.

Not from a managers point of view.
Pay 7 guys 30mins and lapse the indoor work between the rest and you have an 8hr duty done for the price of 3.5hrs overtime.
Reps should be on top of this...it's a sneaky underhand way to skim hours from the budget.

so, whats the agreement on lapsing, im sure its for 12 weeks during the summer, when the mail tails off, and you only do it IF its not to the detriment of your own duty?
fuk, were now doing it 6 days a bloody week. Regardless of how much mail we have. :arrrghhh

Its beyond me is lapsing, ive just noticed today we have been lapsing so far without any problems, then the bombshell they want more but i hope some of you guys can help out here i managed to get hold of next weeks staffing sheet we never have one on public display, so here it is, lapse a 25hr duty all week, they have taken a 40hr cover duty out, so thats 65hrs on top of what we already lapse, now can we as an office say up yours enough is enough,

The reason that some of you will lapse or absorb is because you can!

Yes there are cases like shimmy but lets be honest,if you lapse/absorb say for silly figures sake 25% of your duties on a daily basis and it works then RM are going to continue doing it.

Massive savings.

You're spot on postman. All hours must be worked - the strange thing is people still come in early without pay to prep their walk, set in their D2D and then do a lapsed duty also without pay :crazy: :crazy: :crazy:

I went nuts yesterday when I found out, even though we are lapsing 2 and a half duties, there was a spare guy wondering round the office.

It goes against the agreement in my eyes, but DOM support wouldnt have it.

So, to confirm then. A person can refuse lapsing if it will push her/him into overtime ? Whereabouts in the agreements is that ? I've had a look in the downloads but either it's not there or I missed it.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

That is correct, and always has been. If you're going to go over your finish time due to the lapsing, you dont take it.

Or if the manager says you must take the lapsing, you leave some of your own duty in, or cut off with enough time to return to the office to bring back what you havent delivered. Ask him which he'd prefer.

Does the DOM not realise a spare person will constitute "pressure all" hours, unless he is being hidden the RCS somewhere :shock: :shock:

we have been collapsing walks now for 2 years,mon-fri & the odd saturday.in our wtl on tuesday we were told we had to lose another 500 hours,either because of o-time/sick and asked us to have 10 mins each per day throwing a collapsing walk out.we have about 105 walks in office & about 8-10 walks collapsed each day,mainly thrown out on o/time.what the f--- do they expect.i told them i didnt have time to do it,i struggle at times with collapsing,no doubt early starters(unpaid) will do it.
