Has anyone noticed the rate for this crap is reduced further if you purchase extra leave ?
Rang HR over £20.03 payment and was told it was due to buying the extra, so even though you get paid the pitance whilst on holiday because we have taken the option to buy you get less than someone who hasn't

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
As its a basic pay supplement, RM then treat it as basic pay for leave purchse, another cock up as RML asumed that would be the case.
Did they actually disscuss this in the talks or was it forgotten?
If its not in the agreement in black and white one way or the other its a receipe for differences of opinion to develop with no clear info to support either view
If you buy a weeks annual leave you are effectively taking a weeks unpaid leave.
If you take unpaid leave you do not get the supplement....is that fair? .
The reason the reduction is taken from your supplement as well as your basic pay is because your basic is pensionable and the supplement is not.
It would be unfair to reduce pensionable pay to pay for a non-pensionable supplement
The only thing you have to be careful with is that the figures add up.
I know someone who was paying for 8 days annual leave when they only requested and received 4......for almost 10 years.
I'm sorry but I don't see your logic. If you're at work, you get the supplement, if you're on paid annual leave you get the supplement but if you're on unpaid leave you don't? Nope don't see the problem with that?

It's been a few years since I started buying annual leave but it was a no brainer for me. Seem to recall that what I was having deducted from my pay was about the same as I got back in pay for the week that I'd bought.
I'm sure someone will come up with the figures

You're havin a laugh gaz.......right.
Yes, he is right FT
When i first started buying an extra weeks leave the amount deducted X 52 came to roughly the same as what I would take home on a basic week. After I passed 15 years service, and my annual leave went up to 5 weeks and 2 days the amount deducted was reduced to equal the 3 days extra purchased.
I think some people (not necessarily you FT) are assuming that when you buy extra leave you don't get paid for the week off. Not the case.

that was how i thought it worked
the deduction was to cover your pay for the time off
or was i thinking too simply?

Nah your spot on custard...i just thought daz was having a laugh.
If you buy a weeks annual leave all that happens is that the remaining 51 weeks pay is divided by 52
So if you earn £350 a week it would be 350X51=17,850 divided by 52=£343.27
