RESIGN

Post by cityfc »

Can anyone confirm, that you can opt out of a resign ,if your walk has not changed, or changed very little.
If this is the case, as we are led to believe, is it in writing anywhere, and if so could you supply the proof of this.
Thanks

If you mean a total office resign (or repick) how can you opt out other than choose to be a reserve and not take a duty ?
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Yes duties may opt out of a resign if they remain unchanged.
What you are looking for is The Way Forward Agreement: Section 16 “Resourcing jobs during major change”.

2. Individuals whose duties are unchanged, may opt to retain them, but will also have the option of applying for
any of the jobs involved in the re-sign. (See paragraph 2.3).

What i would look out for,is that some REPS and DOMS do not seem to know the rules regarding re-signs,and seem to think that every duty should go into the pot. They tried to do this at my MC a couple of years ago,and even after i showed them the rules they still wouldn't have it,so i had to ring up the PODA which is now called the REGIONAL RESOURCING MANAGER,told him what was going on,he put a stop to it straight away.

Thanks for that fishtank, just what Ive been looking for.
In short the Office is finishing 1 walk which is to be shared out between Town walks,Rurals are not being effected. They are having a resign but I want to keep my walk, reading this it means I can,as it is not being altered by more than 25%.

NO! If your duty changes at all it has to go into the resign,it is only if NOTHING changes on it.

The 25% or it's really a 3rd i think is if that amount of duties change in your office then you can have a resign,so that is nothing to do with an individual duty not changing.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

You're wrong about that.If you read the link that Fishtank has put on ,you will see that in a re-sign the duty content of an individual duty has to change by at least 25% for it to be included in the re-sign.

Resourcing Jobs As A Result Of Major Change was part of the Way Forward, but did not go into detail regarding re-signs.Royal Mail and the CWU at a later date re-wrote Resourcing Jobs As A Result Of Major Change ,which contained all the rules regarding re-signs.The problem i see is that a lot of union reps and local management only seem to know what was in the original Way Forward and not the amendments that have been made since that time.

The way forward was agreed in 2000 and the issue is what is major change.

Certainly most reps argued in 2003 that the movement from two deliveries to one was major change and should result in a major resign.

Equally there are parts of mtsf 2 which details how resigns should take place when indivduals are in reciept of pay protection and that over rides the way forward.

For me delivery methods is major change , as is geo route and is a intregrated walk sequencing revison. Certainly all of these would make a case for all duties to be within the resign.

As someone who opposed the way forward and helped organise the campaign to defeat the first vote , I have never agreed to squatters rights on duties as I believe that seniority is the best and fairest method for selecting duties within a revision as it rules have no bearing on colour , sexual perference , age or whether your the managers pet or the most hated in the office.

I agree with you regarding seniority, but major change has been defined by Royal Mail and the CWU AND as far as individual duties are concerned I think one of the phrases used regarding the 25% change is that the duty is no longer the same as the one that was originaly signed for.As i mentioned in another post ,at my MC we had a re-sign and management and the CWU
wanted all duties to be put in,my duty had not changed.I argued about the 25% rule ,got nowhere,so i went to senior management outside of the MC,told them, they instructed the MC to abide by the 25% rule.

So,is the 25% rule in or not? As it's not in the original download.

Also most duties in a normal resign would not change more than 25%,although how would you work it out?

EDIT:Ignore,i have just read rogers post,i guess it's in then.
