I've got annual leave booked on Saturday as I'm off abroad on Sunday, plus I'm supposed to have my rotated day off as I'm part time. Manager says that I may have to swap my annual leave so that my weekly day off falls on Saturday as they are "short" this week. I was really looking forward to a 4 day week too, so hope that it doesn't happen. I'd love to have a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday off as I rarely get a heavy day off.

Basically if I want my weekly/rotated day off, can he overule it because they are short?

No ! If your Rest day is on a rota and is as you say, he cannot change it ! He can request you work it .... but not change it.

My RDW (I work 6 days) can not be changed week to week and hence why I lose bank holidays and 1.5 hours on a Saturday. Be polite be flexible but be firm, check with Union but

I'm in a similar situation this week, I've got Fri and Sat booked off as leave and my day off is Thursday. I don't think they can touch your booked leave, if it's official, authenticated holiday then I'm sure there is nothing they can do about it. They can "request" you change it but you can easilly tell them to whistle. You are entitled to a day off on top of your booked holiday, so I'm pretty sure he can't change your day off so it falls on your booked holiday anyway. I'm pretty sure he has to give you the day off stated on the duty sheet...but since when have management complied with the rulebook?

It kind of steals a day's holiday if management "fix" your day off to fall on it, see your union rep for advice. It's unbelieveable, you can't choose holiday and get a Saturday off once in a blue moon, but when it suits management it's as easy as pie to arrange!

Like wise we used to ensure our rest day was a day we were present !

We never used to have a rota and would book when we were present, i.e. come in Monday do all D2D's and book them - holiday Tues onwards, and book rest day = a full week pay

Are you a duty holder ie have your own permanent duty or are you a reserve.
If you are a reserve "operational needs" can come into play and you can be asked to have rest day required by management to allow duties to be covered.
Don't completely understand your question but if you are saying you have annual leave booked for the Saturday & this is the day your Dom wants you to take as your day off for week you have 2 choices.
1, Get paid for the Saturday therefore giving you 1 days overtime for week or.
2, Get another days holiday in lieu
