A succession of speakers at a CWU lobby of Parliament called on Gordon Brown to put pressure on Royal Mail management to negotiate or suffer the consequences with the public. Addressing a packed House of Commons meeting, deputy general secretary Dave Ward warned that the union was set to â€œescalate the dispute politically and with the public. â€œIf Gordon Brown, John Hutton and other members of the government will not put pressure on Royal Mail management to negotiate that must mean they are backing them 100 per cent,â€

Dave Ward has been superb during this. I have my differences with the man, but I doubt we have had anyone more capable for many years.

I now someone who is friends with Ian Griffiths. He was the one who RM got rid off who was in charge of letters.
He stood in front of the board and told them their plan was doomed to failure and would not work let alone get through the Union he was told to either back the plan or go the rest is history.
