This morning, they put a young girl on the walk I used to do. It's a bad 'un, so I helped her throw in all her letters and flats before I left at about 9.15. I finished at 12.45, and saw the deputy lino crawling round her duty in his car at about 1pm, obviously trying to catch her out for having booked ghost O/T. She probably wouldn't have been out the door until about 10, and it's a 20-25 minute conveyance to get to the duty plus it would have been at least 3 hours 45 minutes span for her today, unless she was a runner.

Anyway, my point is, what is it about management that turns people into ruthless scumbags? This guy used to be sound as a pound, now he's just another grasping tendril that's sprouted forth from Leighton's ballbag.

They're at it like mad at our place right now.Only when they catch you you get."just doing a random H&S on you today" to which I reply"what! Again lol".The gaffers at our place really do think your that stupid to not know their ulterior motive.when they have gone through all the h&s bumf you get the,,,,,So errrr,how many bags you got left?.how long will that take you? doh,,,time to do the quick math in the head lol,since I havnt looked at my watch all morning and have no idea of the time it had better be a good answer ..Anyhow,,,thats happend to me 4 times now,5th is due very soon,,oh and just by pure coincidence ofcourse these days all tally up with the days I havnt absorbed due to it being a heavy day..

Im pretty confident that under the human rights act (?) section 8 is about privacy at work. Anyway to cut a long story short if your lino is doing a H&S check he still has to inform you that he will be monitoring you. If he hasn't then any case brought forward could be argued that simple procedure wasn't followed from the start and your rights were breached etc..

You can be secretly spied on but i doubt a lino level employee could grant that sort of authorisation. If they did it off their own back id imagine its a serious breach of your human rights.

Granted employment law is a bugger and im not a lawyer , but stick to the fact procedure hasn't been followed and your rights were breached and imho you could have a pretty good argument.

I've looked for Royal Mail's guidelines on spot checking but have not found anything.

The lino in question has had countless amount of grievances put in towards her,but she worms her way out of them with a smile and a flutter of th eyelashes .They are constantly watching every move you do in the office,but who's there to watch them?.I mean for example I was on annual last week,I came in monday(yesterday) and my frame was a right mess.My walk had been split up into overtime everyday last week(2 people a day).I see on my frame,,,,,,,,
80% of D2D's on my frame (approx 1500 of).
Dead letters from last week(approx 50+)
The only person to take D2D's last week was my day off cover man(20%) so why havnt all the rest taken 10% on half duty?I know initialy this is the posties fault,however does it not fall on a gaffers head if these D2D's(which supposedly are classed same as live mail now)do not leave the office for 4 out of the 5 days?.who's there to monitor this from outside the office?.
secondly,,I went through those 50+ dead letters that somebody couln't be arsed to kill off,and found 10+ live letters in there(delaying of mail anyone?)they simply couldnt find it on the frame so stuck it in with the dead letters.
Now I only joined royal mail 4 years back but these 2 things I have seen people sacked for in the past(d2d and delying of mail that is) so why not the slackers last week?.
I'll tell you why I think,Our office is heavily dependent on overtime staff,they call the shots with the gaffers at the moment because the gaffers dont want to be walking themselves.so I have heard people say"I'll take half of 17 walk,but Im not taking d2ds". which the gaffers are agreeing with just to get shut of half a walk.
Anyhow!!! how can I report this?is there anyone thats actually paid to give a s**t about dodgy manageress's?.
I hate the feeling of being a snitch but I know if I did any of the above I would be out like a shot!.If they had anything at all on me at the moment. nothing would please them more to get rid of me as I actually 1 of very few in our office that dont collapse on every day.People collapsing on heavy fridays? wtf is wrong with these people!?.

Yes. If it's as common a problem as you said (DOM agreeing to overtime Posties ignoring D2D etc.), then you can report it to IB on 02072 396 655 or Email them at securityhelpdesk@royalmail.com . Just the fact that some of the Live Mail has been delayed in this case, should be enough to interest them.
