Manager throws a Wobbler.

A Line manager at my office threw a wobbler today, it started as the Dom was on his day off and it was up to the line manger to get the walks covered and the absorptions, he rang posties on their days off the day before and literally begged them to come in, he even asked one to come in and exchange it for a Saturday off, the postie said yes to that, everyone else gave him a big NO where the overtime was concerned.
He panicked and was like blue ass fly with sweat pumping out of him.
He then rang his regional boss and said he can’t handle the situation and went off sick with stress.
That’s telling you something when the mangers are hopping mad and going sick, if he had to do what I do every day he would know what stress is…

My DOM keeps telling me how difficult his job has become, how I don't appreciate how hard he works and how his job is the hardest job in RM at the moment.
Given that most DOM's are s**t at their job I think a few more will be throwing "wobblers" and going sick.
They have lied and bullied to save their sorry asses over the past few years and now for some of them the chickens are coming home to roost.
I constantly feel like the little boy in "The Emperor's New Clothes".

His sick record is terrible, in fact I think he is on a stage two, all he does every day is put the boxes out from time to time and try to cover overtime and segs the boxes from the early morning van. He threw a wobbler when we went on strike because he had to do reggies, he won't take a walk out because of a health problem, he is the only manager that sits down to throw a walk off, nows that's friggin lazy, when we ask him for a clear frame check he just waves you on, to lazy to walk around to your frame..
He likes to wind the office up, but its certainley backfired today. loved it....

Suggest to your DOM that if he thinks his is the hardest job in RM, then maybe he needs to re-assess his career options, and ask to return to OPG grade.....obviously, any seniority he might have accrued as an OPG previously will have lapsed, so he will have to go to the bottom of the seniority list, also RM does not offer FT permanant contracts for staff, but if he asks his gaffer nicely, he might be able to stroll into a 25hr perm contract ( as opposed to temp, or even casual ), and before he does shift down, he could use his final WTLL session to ask you & your mates how to survive on £300p/w, how to stay in a increasingly demanding job with no gratitude ( verbal, written or financial ), when the laziest, smuggest, arrogant shirkers get half the grief, double the money and all the bonuses whinge about having the hardest job in the company, as well as how the job has changed and especially how he has changed it with lapsing, absorbtion, reduction of SAs and overtime, etc, etc.

F*ck it, Clash - next time he bleats about being a DOM ( "20 years, man & boy....toughest game in the world, son" ), just say to him "Sorry to hear that boss, but we got some vacancies here....why don't you resign as DOM and take a PT contract - it'd be a piece of piss for you, as you'd have no stress, work to your time, if a problem needs to be covered, it won't be your problem - simples!" Please tell me his reaction

Since the Way Forward Agreement 2000, a manager reverting to OPG Grade would retain his/her seniority,
which would include both his/her time as OPG and as a Manager
