You are a public servant and work with the public. The minority of them couldn't give a rats ass who or what you are as long as they get their £1.99 ipodulike ear phones off you without speaking. You're worth ten of them, rise above it my friend. One day soon a customer will say 'thanks' or 'would you like a drink postie' and spend 10 minutes shooting the breeze with you and you'll forget all the grumpy buggers :Very Happy

Alternatively, next time you have a rec or special for them, knock on the door lightly like tinkerbell with arm pump, thrust a P739 thru the door and peg it :chuckle

Ive been brought up on manners, as manners are free, ive brought my kids up to use them, its not hard, just a simple thank you, your welcome, how are you,you ok etc etc so when i deliver something to someone i expect abit of grattitude, a thanks, cheers mate, anything along those lines. Its not like im expecting a tip or anything. It maybe me expecting too much as a simple thanks i dont know, its just the way i am.
Just do what i do and say "your welcome" very loudly next time they be fooking ignorant, its shocks them then into saying thanks after.

ditto as the yanks say.

I get blanked now and then.
just as their ready to close the door I usually say " your welcome" in the chirpiest voice i can.
its a subtle dig! and often confuses them.

Never mind the public what about our managers ??? The very occasional well done or thanks for your efforts might go some way towards motivating staff and boosting morale...I am not sure how much they are paying their motivational training gurus but whatever it is,,,its too much !!! Yes I know I am living in dream world and my experience of RM so far is its completely dog eat dog even amongst the posties themselves but I live in hope,, :whistle

Must be different over here, the people are usually polite enough to say please and thankyou (and some even laugh at my joke - but most just call the police and report me for flashing................again).

I reckon about 95% of the customers i meet in these circumstances at the very least say "hi, cheers, thanks, goodbye" etc etc, most of that 95% engage in small talk, "Terrible weather for you today!", "Blimey, that must have weighed down your bag!" etc etc. The 5% minority who don't say a word and slam the door in your face are often my biggest source of entertainment while im out on my walk. I find it hard to believe how people are so ill-mannered that it's actually quite funny, like a joke and, I often walk away with a huge grin on my face! :chuckle Don't take it to heart, it's their problem, not yours.

Quite a few people on my round ask me if I'd like a hot/cold drink. It's the first place I've ever delivered where anyone has ever asked me that. Everyone up there says hello/please/thanks etc. On my old duty doing delivery and parcels, I MAKE them talk to me :chuckle And I say thank you, which usually prompts them to do the same. Besides, they must know better than to p*ss me off... my reputation must preceed me hehe
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?
