Anyone got one of these? They look pretty much like a normal mobile phone and the alert you with a message from your line manager about lunchtime on your day off every week, asking you to come in in the afternoon and work.

I think I'm the only one at my place who has one.

Why would you need one, the DOMs are supposed to resource all the duties in the resourcing meeting with the rep every week so you should know what you're on by Friday at latest.

You might find that many telecommunication devices can be especially modified to RM standards. My own devices, pager and home response unit, have been designed by my maintenance department manager MH (my husband) in a secret bunker in the garden (aka the shed). Specifically when RM numbers are displayed on the units,outside normal working hours, they are automatically programmed to issue the following statements:

'Thank you for calling your favourite Postie, you call is important to me, please leave a message after the tone. If you are calling from Royal Mail, don't bother!'

Its quite a simple adaptation and avoids any conflict

Does the number come up withheld?? like our office numbers do at our office, if so dont answer it, as i never answer witheld numbers fullstop. My gaffer told me he tried to phone but was no answer, i said correct as i dont answer witheld numbers as imo its abit ignorrant, so he uses his own mobile now if he needs me to bail him out.
