Apparently the postie I am on about has a mother who is 86 years old and she received one of those grey cards through the door sometime last week saying not enough postage, £1.19p due for the letter and handling charge.
So off he goes to the cage for his specials last week and he asks the Phg have you got the letter for his mother, phg comes back and say’s £1.19p. Postie goes mental and speaks to the manager, manager says “you have to pay the fee” postie say’s to manager everyone else gets them free that lives on the office route, managers say’s that’s theft and could lead to a postie loosing his job.
The postie tells me many a time he went over on his walk and never claimed. He also say’s he phones in his specials after 1 30pm.
This is what I call swings and roundabouts, surely the Royal Mail could have turned a blind eye at this and gave it to the lad.
Postie tells me no more going over, no more using his phone, and he is returning his Christmas stamps this year, he tells me we get redirection free, mail hold free, but they would not release a letter for his 86 year old mother.
I have seen posties posting stuff free to company’s and councils by not putting stamps on, and one phg redirects his brothers mail.
Postie said its not the managers fault, he has to go by the book.
I think Royal Mail should say if its one of our own or family member waive the surcharge.
I found this amazing last week when all the profit Royal Mail made. Postie said he was writing to the papers, I said think about it before you do it, R.M will be gunning for him.
