Talking to somebody in Crewe regarding one to ones, seems the management are trying to make them move to Warrington without any option of VRs or relocation to a nearer office.

Sounds to me if they refuse to relocate, they would be effectively sacking themselves, saving shiteloads in VRs, one manager admitted that there may not be anymore VRs.

Whats the score ?

2 guys in my DO opted for VR a few months ago, RM couldnt wait to get rid of them then, now they wont let them leave.

this first round of talks may just be RM taking a headcount and testing the water.

what should happen is whats called a preference exercise
in order to fulfill there legal obligations RM will offer them a job even if its 20 miles away
they should be given a form to fill in: first choice, second choice etc
a preference exercise will be dated giving a certain timescale to reply etc.
1: local delivery office
2: vr

danger there is RM will find them a delivery job rather than pay vr :
if vr is the only acceptable option for them they should only fill box one in.
in our region mc people were told they had 18 months but it eventually took 2 years.
expect managers to be tight lipped!
remember their getting relocated as well and their focus is on securing a department in warrington not
worrying about the rank and file.

PS ITS A SERIOUS BUSINESS KNOW SOMEONE WHO DIDNT FILL IN A PREFERENCE FORM COS THEY DIDNT LIKE THE OPTIONS
OUT OF TIME LOST CHOICE TO RELOCATE ETC.
