Long Service dinner

Did anyone on this forum attend the Long Service Award Dinner last night in Nottingham...which covered Leicester, Derby, and Notts. Any juicy gossip to report. I didnt go as I had a bit of heatstroke from walking round on delivery and felt unwell and sick. No doubt there were numerous managers there who were able to enjoy the evening and not feel ready for bed at 9!

The'd have to drag me there in chains to make me go because I wouldn't spend anytime outside work with those ......................(fill in the blank space :wink: ).

Personally i would not go to one of those as i ve heard its full of managers on ego trips with each one trying to show off more than the other. Mind you its only what ive heard from idle talk in the office but ive never heard anyone say they felt comfortable and enjoyed themselves. :hmmmm

what a backslappers paradise those events will be!?
there was one in scotland, at a well known racecourse (and it wasn't ayr).
people were expected to travel there from as far north as wick/thurso - which is approx 220 miles away!

nothing offered on a "local" level.
just an excuse for managers to have a jolly? ;liar

I got an invitation to go to one a while ago.

I can think of nothing worse than spending a Saturday evening with a manager that I'd spent the week previous having an issue with. The thought of wasting an evening with a manager that is trying to cut my wages/income. Then to sit alongside him/her to be the best of friends on a Saturday night. Forget it.

I'd rather be given a voucher for a resaarant of my choice. To take the missus and go on our own. With RM picking up the tab for the meal. I'd rather do this, at least it would be a far better prospect for all. Agreed, some members of staff might like cosying up to managers on a Saturday night. I can think of nothing worse! :wink:

Yeah, it was brilliant! I had a great evening, really enjoyed myself sat next to my lino especially when his dentures fell out into the soup! oh how laughed :Very Happy Nearly as much as when the DIM's wife did a strip tease on the table. What a hoot. Never thought a person could get their leg up that high and at her age too! Brilliant, got a paid taxi home and free drinks all night. What more could I ask for?

I went to one a few weeks back in the Essex area

Most of the doms on our table were from other offices,

All the host managers on the table was put up in the hotel overnight with wives or partners all expenses paid,

Us bods just had a mini bus home

It was ok I always said there is no way I would go , but I was able to wind a few up,

Though the person I took my partner, deided last week of 3yrs it is over

So the pictures I took have now put in the recycle bn lol

that is why I have been a bit quiet lately :cuppa
