why do certain posties think they can get away with not doing there job properly. i have been waiting for a parcel and when it did not turn up i rang asda direct where it was from and they said it had been dispatched and gave me a tracking number. looked on rm website and it says we have tried to delivery and you was not in. best is postie has not left a p739. it p**ses me off. i have been in the job for just over 3 years and do the job properly. and these jokers who do it half ar**d get away with murder. it is my day off tomorrow so will have to see what he says for himself. rant over

Just make sure you get the right culprit, it might have been the floater or a red van man.

But how long does it really take to write out a docket

Even if he had none on him it would have been better to have taken it back and redeliver it the next day.

person ran out of cards is a possibility in the busy parts of the week; in which case they'd deliver the card the next day

When I've ran out cards, I've improvisied at written on the envelope of one the letters, even if it just to say I'll attempt to re-deliver tomorrow...

exactly i have ran out of them on delivery, and wrote i will try redelivery tomorrow on an envolope. i would never take it back and not let the customer know.

what do i do? i waited all day long for my delivery to come, and it never did, i had to go on line and check the status of my package and it says [item could not be delivered on {and no Safeplace option was specified by the addressee}. A"something for you card" will have been delivered, the item will be returned to -------- pending instructions from the addressee]. whats strange is i did not get a something for you card(P739). WHAT DO I DO? i have the Royal Mail tracking number.

If you enter the tracking number on the Royal Mail website - Track and Trace - it should tell you where the item is.
If delivery was attempted then it should now be back at your local Delivery office.
There are 2 possible reasons for the non-delivery of a 739 card.
1. The postperson had run out.
2. You live in a flat with a secure access and they couldn't get in to leave the card, in which case you should receive it tomorrow.

Our driver gets this on his early run sometimes, but asks us to drop a card in later when there's access. Can imagine you'd be a nit naffed if there's no access day after day?

One of the drivers at my place (who's been there for 10+ years) never uses a 739 where a good old door-stepping will suffice. He's never been pulled for it either.
