Should D2Ds have a RTS address on them?

Seeing that the D2Ds are now classed as live mail shouldn't it be standard practice to have a return address on them so the customer could return to sender if they are not wanted?

RM are always saying how people should put a return address on anything they post. Maybe they should take a leaf (let) out of their own book!

If customers annoyed at unsolicited mail put the word round, and then it went viral.
no advertiser would want to take the hit.

Every single bit of unaddressed junk mail that goes through my brothers door gets put in an envelope and sent back to whoevers leaflet it is, no stamp of course. You can get cheap envelopes out of poundland, well worth a quid. I'd do the same but I don't get any, sealed my letterbox up

That's a good idea, but only if the originators of the junk pay Royal Mail £1.32 per leaflet returned, which is most unlikely as they'll recognise it and refuse it.

You could always use a "window" envelope, and put a sheet of paper in it, with their address on it. That way, they'd probably assume it's a genuine letter, and pay. Still, there's no garantees.

Nice idea but D2D are not "classed" as Live Mail outside of the DO - the agreement says "D2D traffic will be placed into measured workload both indoor and outdoor." not quite the same as normal mail for receivers, but near as damn it for us.

can we put a sticker on them as refused if customer doesn,t want it or do we force d2ds on people against their wishes and dont quote opt out please
if customer doesnt want live mail it gets killed off should this apply to d2ds
some angry members of public out there

But that way they're still printed and sent out to your Delivery Office
Better for the recipient to register with the Mailing Preference Service.

Why aren't you sending them back to the WBC?
Any spares (and presumably refused, although I'm not sure) should be sent back to the WBC to be counted, and recycled. You shouldn't be binning them on site, or their records will be wrong, and you'll continue to get too many.

Same here Daz and they are still lying there in trays.
I don't think anybody can bring themselves to bin them....it kind of feels......wrong.
