Sevenoaks & Tunbridge Wells to merge with tonbridge

We have heard this week sevenoaks & Tunbridge wells delivery offices will close and merge with Tonbridge .
This will mean a lot of travelling for a lot of people .
how will this affect people in these delivery offices, anybody on this forum at these offices i would love to here your views .

Nine miles from Sevenoaks and five from Tunbridge Wells to Tonbridge, so that's quite a bit of travelling time to be taken out of the working day at a time we've got more Door To Doors and packets to deal with. but that's what they call progress.

Nope, I'm scoobied - it's news to me, but I'll try and catch my rep tomorrow and see if he knows owt....I know one thing for sure, I can't see the the customers buying this plan in a hurry ( but how long since RM gave a toss about their opinions? )

If this happens and at the moment it's a big IF it will not happen until the kent mail centre mergers. spoke to some managers and the unit reps concerned about this last week and as i say it's a big if and is only a rumour floating around at the moment, a rumour that is not excatly helping the morale of the workers in the offices being spoken about.

Cheers for the clarification Trojan - personally I'm not that bothered, atm, cos I won't see that far into the future....but if I did, I might have a depression-based freak out about extra travelling costs, commuting time, "what happens if my wife is rushed to hospital or needs me asap" etc - I need to avoid thinking about it, or just try to kid meself on that RM will end up doing something else entirely, or hope I find another job before it affects me

Not wishing to upset anyone but how do you think those people in the kent offices feel about being made to move upto the ME area or you have not got a job,some staff will be doing a round trip of 50 miles aday just to get to work which i think RM are banking on so you leave,i was talking to a young lad the other day he lives in the ct area near to romney marsh he will have to travel upto the rochester area and he has already had to move upto the main sorting office from his original office and now thats going he's got to move again,he was telling us how the staff feel at the moment he's got a young child and a wife so he has the same concerns what if something goes wrong at home,so i feel for all you that are in this position.

Nowt from me, but rep in rural office is on A/L, not been on dels in town office for weeks.

An engineer at Maidstone MC told me that it could be 3 years before the Maidstone MC closes. Everything has gone really quiet since the announcement.

There wastalk of bexhill and three other local offices merging at some time in the near future.the plans were reliant on the new link road being built north of the town.
Now the Condems are slashing everything in sight, i think the link road may be put on the back burner.So at least some goods come out of this shambles.

Just a bit of background our way, the town and rural offices were split with the intention of reuniting in the rural office within about 6 months of the split, 12 or 14 years later ( this year ) some progress was being made, and plans were being laid out....until it all got suddenly scrubbed ( possibly due to this plan to move multi offices into Tonbridge ), but if I have learnt one thing in my 4 years of postal servitude, it is hear about a plan from the local dream factory, then wait 5 minutes before it starts spinning quicker than my Bandit's crankshaft ( 12,000 rpm redline ).

Lol one of those must be my old job as I was IHR from TW on the 28th of May
