PHG "cover"...Enhanced Pay Rate?

Back on lite duties, so I'll be doing the afternon PHG cover for a few months.

I thought that this involved an Enhanced Pay Rate, and was told that it's around £16 per week or so - probably Pro Rata.

Anyway, is this True/Fact? Can I ask about it or will I look a total Schmuck if I do?

Never heard of an enhanced rate for PHG cover........the PHG probably only gets the extra money under grandfather rights so you would'nt be entitled to anything. Technically Callers duty is a PHG job but I never received anything extra for working in there for 3 years, infact I took a paycut because I lost half my ESA.

No you won't get an enhanced PHG rate for covering what was previously defined as a PHG duty.
After the Way Forward Agreement 2000, only permanent and substantive employees graded PHG on 31 January 2000,
continued to receive the PHG supplement on a personal reserved rights basis.

I cover PHG day off and had leadership allowance when the Manager has been off.

You can get leadership allowance if you're a supervisory PHG (like I do every now and again in the little rural offices) but there's nowt for just working the callers office etc.

In fact, you should be paying them cos it's so brilliant and much easier than being outside... My ADOM asked ATOS once when I would be fit to do full duties as I was "currently indoors doing less work". Less work than who?! Even with only one arm and leg working properly, I was still doing more work than the 2 guys that were normally in the bloody office! Cheeky git.

Leadership allowance is paid when there is no Manager present and, I think, you have to be supervising 5 or more staff - the manager not being present is not a physical thing but when there is no manager on a permanent basis - for example on a Saturday when a Manager is supposed to be there but buggers off early doesn't count.

Surely if that happens, and no manager is present for any length of time the office MUST be closed, mustn't it? After all, if a manager ( or suitably qualified and renumerated PHG or OPG ) is not present and responsible for the office, it should be closed on H&S grounds alone, I believe.

I'll be there 5 hrs, mostly alone, answering callers, sorting out eve collections, phone answering, segging mail, Specials, 6 staff in/out, van mail delivery,
dealing with whatever is thrown at me.
Basically, running the phg/sorting office, and most of the "Known World" as far as I can see it.
No managers will be present at any time until be close...

Seems a lot of Responsibility/Accountability for one lickle, ickle person

The 2 offices I supervise and get the leadership for have a DOM but classed as a "cluster DOM" because they look after a few small offices. The PHG does all the daily reports, rotas, forecasts (to an extent-just on a weekly basis, no annual stuff!), CPR, paymaster, RCS etc. etc. etc...

If you're just looking after the callers office and the attached RLE work, I don't think you'll get the allowance.
