Always try to make sure when I fill em out that their filled out clearly and all sections are done properly.
Can understand why some customers get pissed off with em though,
Had one delivered on Saturday by Parcel Force, No tracking number on it and telling me that he has left the item at a PO Branch sadly couldn't make out what PO it was,
Thanx to a nice lady at their depot I may have narrowed it down to 2 PO's will give both a go tomorrow.

when filling out p739 i try to think of callers office staff as well ,if it is an amazon packet then say so on card or red box with pink ribbon .this makes it so much easier for them to locate the packet quicker

I always make sure to fill mine out properly, every required section. I remember last year when we got all those bloody light bulbs, I wrote "bulb" on all the p739 cards so that the callers office would have a better idea where to find it.

My own opinion - its does amaze me that some people wont spend a few seconds giving more details on a Form Left Card when it saves someone else, a colleague, minutes even hours trying to find a packet or handling complaints when they cant locate it because of the card is incomplete, wrong or even indecipherable.

Mind you I have been suggesting for years that all Delivery Posties spend at least 1 day in the callers office as part of their training schedule, and as far as I know out Coach agrees with me. Its a pity management don't.

There does seem to a preponderance within RM of postal workers with a selfish, "what's in it for me" outlook. Proved in 2007 and 2010 when IMHO deals only got accepted by the membership because of the ££££££ signs.

Now i know the term "Knobheads" shouldn't be used, but i can understand westlondonpostie's frustration.
For anyone who has had to work in the caller's office, it's an absolute nightmare when the 739 has hardly any info on it.
If all you've got is an address to work with, you have to go through EVERYTHING in the office. That's packets, parcels, tracked, recorded, specials and charges
So if you can get as much info as possible on the card you'll be helping out a colleague no end

....... or maybe everyone should spend a couple of days in the "room of doom", it's an eye opener

I was not calling either of the posters *********, I meant it in general to anyone who persistanly will not fill out a 739 properly, knowing full well that it may lead to a colleague being abused, threatened and on one occasion being spat on by a customer all for the sake of someone trying to save 15secs.
As for being called a J******h or J****e,I find no offence in it at all, I mean if I do the job properly, it means I get to spend all of my working day spent indoors, Manager free.

They should redesign the cards 'again' and perhaps have a blank space on it where we could write what type of packet/letter ect it is where it's from ect.
That would help the customer and the room of doom.

Also there is not a tick box for 'flat' letters,i always tick letter and write 'flat' by it.

I always tick 'packet' and write 'flat' by it. Seems to work down here in opposite land!

regarding the topic, a one or two word description (flat, amazon, play.com, brown box etc) may not seem like a lot, but it narrows it down considerably. I always leave a brief description on my 739's and I've never worked in the callers office. It is only common decency, something which some people seem to lack.
I mean, you don't have to write a novel or anything, you're writing out the 739 anyway, it makes sense to do it.

I fill mine in correctly. Doesn't take long and if you've ever worked in a callers office, you'll understand how frustrating it is trying to find something when the P739 is illegible/not filled in correctly/wrong details on.

I ve worked the front counter and because of this i always write "A4 letter" or "Amazon" on the card to try and help the poor bugger find things. Ive had cards come back with no names or address written on them.
