In my office RECORDED items, (letters, packets, everything) are all collected and sorted in the cage (RLE) and handed out along with the SPECIAL DELIVERY ITEMS? Is this normal?

If that happened in our office, the bloke in the cage wouldn't be able to move.

I think it's been put in place to ensure R/D procedure is followed - i.e obtain signuture etc.

How many work in your office - 3?. You could never do that in an office of any size surely?

Maximum 2 working in the cage - but sometimes only 1!

Cage in our place is too small for the SD as it is. A similar question... how are the tracked handled in your office? Ours are scanned in the cage then put out with the regular packets... is this normal?

i have heard of it in some places
heard of others who just 'receive' them on the gun and then put the rd's back out for sorting on the IPS
could never happen in our place
and lets be honest,there should be no need if delivery posties do their part and PHG's do the cards

It has never happened in our DO, it would be impossible to track all the Recordeds, Specials and Tracked items in the RLE - as it is the Tracked items are sorted in a different room on Wed, Thu, Fri and Sat we just haven't got the space or the time even with two of us.

Recorded's = sorted normal with any other packet
Small tracked = RLE, then goes to drivers
Large tracked = sorted normal with any other packet and then goes to the drivers
Special = RLE

Sounds reasonable that - how do you go on with PDAs? We haven't enough and I send a couple of blokes out instead of sorting to get rid of some before the deliveries. Apparently the order for PDAs went in before the CDVs started and the instruction was one per van Locker and Callers - then of course the CDVs started and suddenly we are nine short.

Hmm this interests me. Our phgs scan all specials then we help ourselves. We all pile into their office for specials, keys, pdas. Got to be against security regulations surely?

scanning theem to your duty
couting them out ot you
then you signing to acknowledge that total
