Bloke in our DO was taking 2 walks out on Saturday, one he chucked in and another prepped-up by other staff.

Was getting paid 7 hours to deliver the second walk (according to him!) As no one wants O/T on a Saturday.

The rest of the week we have to fight to claim for 1/2 hr going over, yet come the Saturday the DO has an abundance of money to throw away!

This bloke never does overtime the rest of the week because they won't pay anything other than the standard hours.

The system is shot! Wasters. I don't blame the chap, I blame the pathetic system.

6 hours is usually what is offered now, although this can get negotiated if DOM is desperate :)

How else are they going to get it covered? Saturdays are usually very difficult to get people to work any overtime. I often do O/T myself but never on a Saturday.

If your man's prepared to put himself out and gets 7 hours for it, then good luck to him.

From the DOM's point of view it is, no doubt, preferable to doing the delivery himself and cheaper than employing agency staff.

Is that set in stone?
We used to get 6hrs for doing a walk then it mysteriously went down to 5.

if you dont like or want the offer then dont take it
if you do or someone else does then fine
i do zero OT and management knows it
others can do what they like
however when the walks get longer and they moan they cant complete or work over then you know what will be said

What time did he finish his own and extra round? We would have had it split between all the staff,unless everyone finished on their time,unlikely on a Saturday! Good luck to him anyway,can't get any o/t in our office just now!

its a lovely little screw that cause i was at a D.O. four years ago that was only paying 4 hours for a full walk on O/T bet its not even that now.

but people did it for the 4 hours?

So everyone's walk takes them to their time on a Saturday, I didn't bother to mention he was boasting about finishing both by walks by 11.30, just in case it upset some of you! And he took NO D2Ds!

Most of the deliveries in our office finish no later that 10.30 on a Saturday! Because they all runaround, don't take any D2Ds and generally hassle anyone who treats it as a normal working day! Anyone want to work here?

As I said, not the blokes problem! Very poor management that allows this to happen!

Work you day off in the week and all you'd get would be 6 hrs, and you'd have to chuck in the whole walk, D2Ds and end up talking the walk out in your own car!

In my own office they are drawing up proposals for the extra Saturdays off just now
I had a chat with the guy doing it
after gleaning the details i asked why we were bothering
he said well folks want the extra Saturdays and the "way it looks you will need those extra Saturdays with how busy Saturdays will be"
now WTF do i want to run my ass off on a Saturday to allow RM to bring in a system that doesnt reflect the genuine business needs?
yes i would love more Saturdays off but not if it makes everyone's working Saturdays a shafter

This is only an issue because RM don't pay a decent premium overtime rate.
If instead of getting 6 hours you were getting time and a half for four hours nobody would be questioning it but you would be getting the same money.
It's just because it is paid in hours that it seems excessive.
My only issue with overtime is that it should be done AFTER your contracted hours not during them.

In our DO it's 5 hours to deliver a whole walk. No prep involved ; just bagging up and deliver.
