Rural deliveries

Any advice?

Best way to organize the round in your van? Do you have your mail trays and packet trays, or put the packets in a completely separate tray?

Just general advice on how to make it easier from an organizational point of view would be nice.

I would say that tie up and put the bundles into boxes then put the boxes into the van. Otherwise when you turn a corner the mail will go all over the place and be out of order, at least if its in boxes its a bit more secure.

Mail get's bundled up and put into trays, small packets get put into order in seperate trays and large packets put at the back of the van in order (and try to get the spare tyre put back under the van instead of having it in the back wth all the mail).

Agreed apart from the tyre part! They're a bastard to get from under the van if its wet or muddy!

I agree but if you don't then you've no room in the van for all your stuff (you know, the falling mail volumes )

Most houses have their own.
Seriously though, bundle up and include packets and everything, except the largest parcels, in trays in delivery order - that way there's least danger of overlooking any mail on delivery.

if anything too big for a tray or specials i put a star on the top letter to remind me theres something else for that address

Tie up in order, stick it in trays. Put packets in order in the back of the van.
If I have a delivery with lots of business mail I stick it all on top of a few flattened sacks instead of trays, that way I don't have to carry 9 trays back in when I get back to the office.
I always turn for packets if it's a delivery I don't know very well.
When you get a packet out always check when your next packet is, that way you'll never miss one. Having to backtrack on rurals is a pain in the arse.
