stupid question...

I'm due to start next month as an opg and have been given a uniform order form and phine number. When I called and have my pay number the chap at the other end said I wasn't on the system yet and to call back after I start. My question therefore is what is the dress code for new starters with no uniform.

Jeans, t-shirt, comfortable footwear. I just got a hi-viz first day, ordered my uniform 3rd day in and it took about 1 week to turn up.

Ask your gaffer if there are any spares you can have, sometimes they dont get returned when sizes are incorrect, you might find a few items in amongst that fits, just to see you through.

they usually give you uniform here after a month because people dont last long,like part timers doing full time rounds and being harrassed if they book it.

Back on thread. As someone said there is normally a small amount of spare 2nd hand uniform hanging around which depending how you feel about it is up for grabs. A few shirts taken home and washed/ ironed might make you feel like you fit in a bit better untill your new uniform arrives.

Other than that i expect you will be given a sleeveless high vis jacket to put on over a tee shirt. Bit like a road worker really

Cheers for the advice. As for the chafing I recall William Shatner (a keen horseman) suggesting that wearing ladies tights helped. However I've always believed that you shouldn't mix work and pleasure.
