Questions !

Post by post_bitch »

Ive just started working for RM in edinburgh !

Contract is 22.5 hours 9.30 - 2!

But the minute i walk in the door im told its now 8.30 - 1 ! :evil/mad instantly causing me problems with child care . :arrrghhh
WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT - why advertise something they know it isnt true ? really angry about this .
They could of atleast told me that at the interview !

Now ive been talking to a friend of mine in the office who is full time .

QUESTION 1

Are part timers paid to 1pm while full timers are paid to 2pm? even tho we are all on the same work? ( how is this fair??)

QUESTION 2

I dont want to do overtime but when i take the mail back to office wont that just cause me to have a huge backlog and again wont get finished on time? ( what will happen)

hi Post bitch :wave

Its sometimes best to keep specific details to yourself, its sometimes frowned upon that you are a member on here. Just a little hint that you should maybe keep your area to yourself.

I remember when I started that for the first few days they brought me in slightly later. But you should have been told your hours before you started. Do you have anything from RM with the 9.30-2?

Q1. I dont really get what you mean with this?! You should be getting paid 22.5 hours per week. If you are then i dont really know what you are getting at. unless youare speaking about doing Overtime until 2pm :confused

Q2. Thats not your job to worry about that, its a managers  If you have to leave mail behind as you will not be able to complete your delivery then just do that. Its upto the manager to arrange for the remaining mail to be delivered. If on the following day when you go into work and you find your mail still not delivered, then take what you will be able to deliver that day and leave the rest. We are not getting paid managers pay to be doing their jobs for them.

From what i can work out basically full timers are paid until 2pm even tho they are mostly finished for 12:30 about time as they leave the office alot earlier than me and have alot easier walks with me being on the crappy starter walks.

What im thinking is my manager KNEW it was allways going to be 8:30 to 1 and just changes that from 9:30 to 2 so that i dont have up to 2pm to finish as i might (like the full timers get finished before my time ) now he jsut banks on me booking overtime which im NOT going to be doing so poor little con man manager better try mess sumone else about.

Both part-timers and full-timers are paid their contracted hours.
If either are not working their hours that's a management problem....not yours. :cuppa

Hey hold up with the attitude - people are trying to help if you, or inject humour into the situation, if you piss them off with your attitude then They wont be as willing to help.

MEMBER MODE

Your question in the quoted post CANNOT be answered as every office is different. My office we work till 2:30 on long days and 2.00 on short days, except for Saturday when its 1.00.

The part timers in my office are all on 8 - 2pm Mon - Fri and 7 - 1 on Saturday.

Well in my office it would seem part timers finish at 1pm and full timers 2pm ...

And managers feed off part timers only booking what they work which sumdays could be none if its queit where as full timers may be finished for 11 am on that queit day and still paid up until 2pm.

This to me is tottaly unfair and a travesty of equality in the work place

WHY are they paid until 2pm when we are meant to be doing the same 3.5 hour walks - and they leave the office before part timers?

am i the only part timer that thinks that stinks?

Lol

Im FT and get paid until 13:30 :Very Happy

As Fishtank has said, it doesnt matter of you work 6 hours, 22.5 hours or 40 hours. You get paid for what you work.

Perhaps re-phrasing your question to something like:-

Q1. Do people on easier walk finish earlier than their proper finishing time?

would have made it slightly more understandable. The answer to my re-phrased question would be 'Yes.' It happens. Those that go in 90 minutes before their proper start time to get out earlier and to finish earlier. But I wouldn't concern yourself too much with those ppl. They will be getting weeded out very soon as the further this new agreement gets implemented.

As long as you work your contracted hours I wouldnt concern yourself with others.

In my office Part Timers leave before Full Timers and we all have 3.5 walks. Some finish before me most finish at same time - but then was only told this week that we are a militant office. :Very Happy

it doesnt matter how long the walk is
work your hours and let the managers deal with any extra
do you give the managers the same attitude your are giving the members here?
