Was wondering if the CWU HQ had considered the following in relation to negotiating our d2ds in the future where we may be prepping up to 6 a day??

No that is true ,however the vast majority with a normal physiological make up will suffer some form of RSI when forced to endure a repetitive physical task for extended periods , others just don't get it

Don't laugh, I had CTS, had both hands operated on, one successfully, one not so successfully. Was left with very little feeling on my left hand. Until, my hand got trapped by the brake on one of those new yorkies. Now the feeling has came back and it bloody hurts!!! CTS is back with a vengeance on that hand too. GRRRRRRR

No, it's not funny--i had op too on wrist, (My working hand) and the pain is back! sorting mail at mega speed is asking for trouble. But at least if it can be proved it's work related, then I imagine in the not too distant future, there will be lots of claims going in!

I agree, think its maybe time for us all to start collecting information from any employee who feels their health or physical wellbeing has been suffering because of the type of work we are doing and especially with even heavier workloads on the cards. Think i will speak to my H&S rep next week on the subject as more and more workers are complaining about one thing or another as regards aches and pains.

I too had surgery to both my hands for carpal tunnel sydrome which I feel was being made worse by having to do sorting. Thankfully the surgery has improved the symptoms a lot. I have since moved on to a job, in a re pick, that does not require me to do any sorting.
