Why bother doing the job properly???

I do the job properly, I come in on time, I get accelerated out or get the bus, I close peoples gates, I do not door step, etc etc... A small number of my colleagues do the same and because of this summer lapsing has been put on hold in our division, it makes me sick though because the car users have got the benefit from it because they were flying out with the lapsing, while we were out to our time to show lapsing couldn't work without cars, and the car users are still doing the same with lapsing away.... How do you get through to these stupid people, or has anyone had similar happening in their office and been able to sicken these scumbags

It is frustrating doing the job properly and seeing others cutting corners and making lots of time . When I finish my duty the flyers have been at home for over an hour and others are coming back with 3 ½ hours overtime under their belts. So yes it can (if you let it) drive you nuts.

I think that RM are putting all their hopes in the forthcoming Georoute revision whereupon they will hope to even the playing field and give everyone 8 hours of fair work.
Once this has been achieved (if indeed this is possible) I believe the managers will be encouraged to monitor more closely peoples finishing times and issue further work (most prob lapsing) to the ones that are making too much time.

For now I would advise you to carry on doing the job at a steady pace and try to not allow yourself to be bullied or intimidated by the managers to work any faster if they think you appear slow. Equally (and its not easy) try to ignore the fact that others are getting an earlier, easier day than yourself as this will slowly drive you nuts.

What'll they do when RM finally ban the use of private cars as per the 2010 Agreement?
The only good point about this agreement.They won't be rushing around to save an hour when they have to return the CDV to the delivery office.

i think with this new so called agreement between the cwu and the rm why dont the cwu or rm tell everybody that cars can not be used on or for delivery , and then see how easy the job is (not) , the reason they wont is the job would goes tits up and no walk collapseing and money saveing , but when or if cdvs come in then they will tell you no cars.(when it suits)

I actually agree with Calpsy on this on as right or wrong car users will continue anyway until they are forced to stop and that could be another 3 years away.

Just concentrate on your own duty and let the car users be.

gone, i don't know if this helps, but this is what i did:

firstly, have you had a revision since 2007, using the 2007 P & M agreement? i'm asuming you haven't had one in 2010.

If so, then really, if it was done by the book, you shouldn't have had any Car Derived Deliveries in your office, thus you must then write to your Dim, and state that fact.

Ask him/her to give one weeks notice that this practice must stop in writting to the staff.

Flag this up to Area, and also Division.

I stopped this practice in a week in our office, bang!

didn't please some people, but we Reps are here for the many, not the few.

Well, doing the job properly has meant I haven't done any lapsing since last June, and that was for only two days before management gave up flogging a dead horse, so, I guess it has it's uses.

Doing the job properly means you aren't putting yourself under pressure day after day. It means that you are not tempted to put recordeds through the door without a signature. It means that you are not frightened of working to time. It means you do not doorstep packets.It means you don't come in an hour early to make 20 minutes at the end of your duty. It means that they cannot throw a load more work at you through lapsing and hopefully it means that you will still have a job.
