There should be no budget saving unless you actually have spare time in your office. We were told we have to save 85 Hrs a week and we only have 15 rounds in my office.
I argued along with the Rep to the DSM that we were not ment to be run on bugets and that only spare time where people are able to finish early could be used and he agreed.
Now because we are doing 1/6 D/D a day and dead calling we have no time if the job is done properly to lapse, and the only people who will, will be the idiots who run about breaking H&S, using cars ect ( Their Choice )
So long story short, because of summer leave ect, we are short staffed and DSM has now agreed to put in 2 long term ( temp Contracts though ) jobs till we get a revision and to make up any P/T
to full time ( temp ) till the revision kicks in and if need to make then F/T permanatly if Geo Route says its needed.

Morally - Yes I would think so.

Unfortunately RM will always revert to the legal line whenever there is a question or an ambiguity to clear up.

The agreement says you have to have a revision to the first £200 so I think RM could dodge and fudge it for quite some time, however, as we have been told before the agreement is not a document recognised in Law (though I think it may fall under employment contracts laws) this might give you an opportunity.

My advice to be honest would be to go for the revision, you never know your duties may end up smaller.

The payment is condtional the words are as part of the agreed (final details still in work!)new revision proccess, this will mean that you have taken the option from the menu and selected a new duty cycle, as well as the shared van option /hct. The revision will then redefine your dutys/ delivery spans etc hence in words its not budget driven. Summer lapsing has not changed !

By the way absorbtion is not a revision and does not qualify for the payment. A revision means that your offices TM1 is adjusted and the savings are fully realised. Absorbtion should be based on the annex a and b guidelines and not agreed for a whole year in advance.

The DOM checked with planners, but what authority do they have, planners are not senior OPS mangement who hace the authority to authorise the £200.

What is needed is to find out if those who can authorise which I assume will be national level ops managers have been asked to authorise?

I really hope your DOM has not been DIM enough to make a cock up

In my view someone like Dingo should get clarification on this extra £1000 As it has been asked that many times on here.
My personal view is we've been shafted on it with the ambiguous writing of the agreement. Truebrit states the agreement isn't covered by law, so this leaves us again in the realms of
non trust and animosity.

Just for example we've seen and heard offices going through changes, hard changes. People losing over £100 a month in wages due to loss of esa and d2d payments.
Offices which have had major revisions like cdv's, pda's, walk sequencing machines etc. Yet rm look at you and say we want more.
I ask myself, after all these changes, where is my 39hour week or ot?
where is my fair workload, still going over in summer?
where is my extra time to prep d2d's?


Offices that run around to finish 30mins early are cutting their own throat. This gives management the easy option to say hours can be saved and collapse duties, thus us working harder.People have to get it in their head finishing early is a thing of the past.

Basically nothing changes from what it is now, saves aggro all round, and we get the £200.00. If the fact that we havent had a revision meant we didnt get the £200.00 then id tell people that we want the aggro and the trouble in order to get the £200.00. There`s no more jobs going as theyve already gone. If we do a revision or not , we take the same amount as we take now, so imvho its better all round to do what we currently do. Everyone seems happy enough, but they wouldnt be if we didnt get the £200.00, which was my point

Jimmy, What i would like to know is have you got time to complete the extra work, because if you have you must have been grossly over staffed to start with.
Also why not wait till the new IWT Tool comes out and see what your workload is against your TM1 you may be surprised ! Your Manager probably wants to go for this now,
As the more hours ( Jobs ) he can take out or justify now the easier it is for him if he needs to cut more when you get your full revision.I asked at the workshop what would
happen if Geo2008 said hours should be put back in and the DSM said that if they coped without them before the revision he would not be putting any back in.

We may well be overstaffed but thats due to the drop in mail volume id have thought. IMVHO we dont get as much as we used too - I can comfortably get out on time 99% of the time. We are a tiny office and have maybe 40 staff, and around 30 rounds. We have 3 managers FFS and we only need 1, we manage fine with 1, yet we have 3 Rounds are completed in time coz people start early n work their arses off but its like talking to brick walls half the time

I know how you feel mate, we only have about 20 staff including the Dom, callers and 3 on collection. We have had about 10 duties taken out over the last couple of years and about 5 F/T made into P/T so we should be falling apart.
The trouble we have is as soon as somthing gets cut people just start to come in earlier and run about more just to try and make a bit of time, which does my head in. At the moment we have 4 duties waitng to be filled
2 of which we have coverd by people from another office,so finally because of the lapseing the runners and car users are slowly realising that the more they do the more they get given and are slowing down abit but sadly not enough.
