Dingo etc
We are hearing little officially, but i assume you are still in the know.
On the ground level we are having cutts thrust at us, threats blah blah blah, usual stuff
The question i want to ask, are you all still hopefull that this will change over time? This is not a sarcastic question, i kno itl take time but i also know we are getting fkin hammered at the mo from management, i just hope you lot can change this.

unfortunatly royal mail has no intention of keeping to its word or their side of the deal, this was all spin to achieve a yes vote.proof of this is the introduction of d2d into workload without any revisions or time allocated for this.and believe me they will not stop there.any positive sides to the agreement i.e-1 in 4 saturdays will be left for us lot to arrange ourselves!

DTD into workload/extra DTD in advance of revisions IS part of the agreement therefore RML are sticking to the agreement. D.O's are to have interim measures which will be reviewed on a weekly basis at the resoucing meeting.

I thought the agreement would start after proper revision, 39 hour weeks, and 1 in 4 Sats off.
Yet all that has happened is a pay cut. eg 3 sets of door to doors with 620 calls.
loss of esa and no 39 hour week and no sequenced mail

Are we still not allowed to do this, what does the 'collate' mean then in the guidelines?Tell him D2D should not be put inside each other

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I would say it means put together but not inside one another.POSTMAN wrote:Are we still not allowed to do this, what does the 'collate' mean then in the guidelines?Tell him D2D should not be put inside each other
Then when you have put the 3,4,5 or 6 together you then place them into the frame.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Re: PEC etc - are you still hopefull for our new realationsh
I realise their is a lot of frustation out there, but a lot of guidelines have been agreed and a lot of these are now out in the field.
I know that the National Deployment group are meeting on Wednesdays which will dicuss things like the supplement as the union believe that those who operate CSS machines should be paid this money and we are right. Whereas Royal Mail dont.
All the DSMs and senior managers have been on courses which are titled How and when which is about the reasons for the agreement and how to introduce. This workshop shows a Dave Ward DVD.
Royal Mail have no where near enough planners for what they want to do and that is holding their plans back as the new planners are having to go on courses to learn the systems.
Remember in line with the local workshops a revision can take up to 26 weeks to introduce unless you agree a table top revision. The 26 weeks process means that protentially the vast number of units will not have a revison this year as it is unlikely that Royal Mail will introduce a revison after November due to the bedding in period and christmas.
Plus in some office which have walk sequecing now or indeed are due walk sequencing the workplan is still all over the place. Remember the aim is to have 60% available from midnight to sequence so the work arrives in your office for 0600 in the morning and then the remaining 40% is due in your office any time up to 10 in the morning.
However not all mail centres are able to achieve this workplan at this moment without a major revison and the full introduction of one outward plan. For example in London the average is 45% on the first wave and 55% on the second wave. Whilst London in year 1 is only due walk sequencing in Whetstone , Leytonstone , stratford and the new premier park site ( west London delivery office. ) this 45 /55 split will cause a number of problems.
For example can an office cope with 55% of work on the second wave ? Does that work need to be sequenced and would it not be better to be walk sorted, can an office truely have a revison based on this workplan as when the mail centre revison takes place and the one outward plan is full rolled out it should mean the split is 60/40.
In addtion what happens on a Saturday as its one thing have 40% of mail arrive at 10 in the morning but if 55% arrives then how can that be delivered to spec ?
In addtion to the delivery issues which are on going ie standards being tested in live enviorments etc there have been mail centre reviews in most regions/divisons which are part of the agreement.
I think personally that the operational managers at Director level are staggered at how much they have to deliver and that has led to the fact that very little has happened in terms of revison activity and probably has resulted in them relying on absorbtion to deliver savings.

Re: PEC etc - are you still hopefull for our new realationsh
I do think some people believe a new relationship is based on Royal Mail surrendering and not introducing change and not absorbing even when people are still finishing early.
That is not a new relationship and it will simply not happen.
The new relationship is about working together , sharing information , agreeing new and fair measurements and trying to acheive agreements which deliver benefits for the staff, maximising full time jobs , whilst ensuring that the business survives.
Ingnore the so called profits Royal Mail are not in a good state , the operating profits do not reveal the pension defcit or the fact that the loan has to be repayed. It like you looking at your bank balance and seeing a profit but not including your mortage , credit card bills and loans into your overall amount.
Now a new relationship is not about not having disagreements . Every relationship has disagreements. It is how you resolve those disagreements that matter in the past we have more often not gone straight to industrial action and Royal Mail executive action. This new agreement attempts to make sure we jointly with the help of ACAS and Roger Poole resolve those issues in a pragmatic and sensible manner.
The whole agreement is aimed at having agreed standards which are fair and reasonable in line with acas guidelines and then that should ensure people are not bullied at work.
However if some people are either making time or cutting corners to make time then of course you know Royal Mail`s matra is you have to work all your hours. No union can argue on one hand for improved wages and on the other for people to make time on the job.
No other workforce moans as much as postal workers on how much work they have to deliver , why because more work means more time on the job and in the main less opportunity chasing time. Can you imagine car makers moaning about how many cars they make or shipworkers moaning about how many ships they build ? No because they know work is power the more work you have the more sercure your job is.
So I have seen Royal Mail at regional level involve the union more in their thinking and taking our thoughts and on some occasions changing their plans. However it is early days and tougher tests will come.
But tell me what is the alternative to attempting to improve relationships ? Do we really want to fight for bad relationships ?

That's a hell of a statement from a senior union official dingo...do you have any facts to back up those accusations.dingo wrote: No other workforce moans as much as postal workers on how much work they have to deliver , why because more work means more time on the job and in the main less opportunity chasing time. Besides the ones supplied by Royal Mail obviously.
We "Moan" as you put it because of the physical stresses that this wonderful extra work/power places on our bodies.
Car makers may have a different slant on the whole more work equals more power ethos if they had to carry the extra engines they produce around with them.
I don't expect you to understand this but you could take a look at this thread.....http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =1&t=27803" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It may make you stop and think before you tar as all as lazy and workshy.
Oh and i'll throw in that question again in case you missed it.
What do you consider to be GENUINE AND DEMONSTRABLE SOLUTIONS TO WEIGHT AND FATIGUE considering there would be NO new delivery methods.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Sorry Dingo--I'm beginning to wonder if all you top union bods have been victims of some furtive brainwashing scheme--you all seem more and more to be parroting R/M propoganda.
AND no other workforce moans like us? All of us cannot be wrong when we tell you how bad things really are! Most of us are not workshy lazy untrustworthy neds! What an insult this post is to the people you are supposed to be representing.
