Post by mr deeds »

We started lapsing this last week me and a few other told the dom that what he was asking us to do was unachevable within the delivery span (basicly 35 mins work that he says ten)so i start to tell dom that "i will be going over my time and will have to book it" he turned round and says "traffic is down why are you booking"i reply "it's too much and what time do we get for d2d in delivery span/work load"he says"none traffic is down" i say "we are lapsing though that fills the time up and more"he says "tuff get on with it or will take you down the conduct code" i say test my round please "he says "your just being difficult"...rep is not backed up by hq manager is doing what ever he wants planning a revision without cwu input no f/t contracts allowed even though we are well under staffed.....what the hell do i or the rest of our office do....

this agreement isnt worth the paper it was written on.
we thought we were being shafted before, now its getting worse
im full time, but the part timers next to me never have time to take a break, nor prep their D2D, and endorse their dead mail
and redirect mail.most of their walks are impossible to finish in 3 1/2 hours.

I dont think there are many duties left in delivery that can be done in the time we are allowed.
Certainly if you are doing the job the way you are supposed to.
managers keep saying the same S**t.
youre under preforming, mails down, couldnt possibly take you that long, etc etc
Forget all that nonsense, you and only you knows how long it takes.
Just stand up to them, remembering this is a nationwide thing now to make you feel youre slow or a chancer.
Just work to youre time, not a minute longer.
Its the only way

deeds, get your rep to contact your ADR,if no joy there go to your Div rep.
But to be fair, your ADR should be able to sort it.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It does fill me with horror some of the stories I hear on here.

The fact is no one needs to go past their time, if you are being pressured to do so then get in touch with your rep or area rep.

I do understand that some managers will always try this on and some who are are not orgainised or scared will do what the manager says.

However it does concern me that I hear a lot of posters who talk a good fight on here blaming me or other posters yet dont stand up to the manager.

Door to Door into workload will come into its own when you do a revision. The problem now is that its summer and traditionally traffic falls during the summer months and Royal Mail have adopted in many areas a policy of we will only put hours into an office if that office is cutting off.

Now in terms of absorbtion you have to force management to go through the national agreement which contains annex a and annex b and means your rep has all the information including traffic predictions including door to door etc.

In my view absorbtion can only work if the following is happening your office duties have to much fat on them which allows you to do more or if your office is still chasing time and people are coming in before their time etc and therefore allowing management to do this.

Once your have a walk sequencing revison and a delivery methods revision then hopefully this will in the main remove any ability to chase time which in itself causes members a lot of stress as they rush around like headless chickens.

pretty much spot on Dingo
Im no great fan of the union(FYI i fought my stage 3 without the union as the rep(s) in my office showed little interest)
however members need to stay strong and do the job properly
doing this,i was cutting near every day BUT was doing everything required eg condems, redirection etc and even D2D
so at that time I was getting paid full D2D payment but rarely completing the duty

I got tired of telling everyone to come in on time, take breaks etc
still I saw them running around like mad and totally stressed out
coming in early and working over
while i was in on time and taking breaks, and generally streaming out
didnt matter to me how busy it was
yes on a quiet Tuesday i 'lost out' as I couldnt finish early as I was out to my time
however if everyone accepted this then they would see the light

well definatly not the case in my area
at an office level,I was pretty much left to it
same for when I was working to my time, streaming etc
no real interest in what was going on
combine this with the 2010 agreement and I can see why people are leaving the CWU
If you look at the strikes over my time at RM vs any wage rises a non union member gets anyway then Im down on earnings vs a non union member with little to show for my paid subs

Don't worry MR Deeds, haven't you heard there is a new relationship of trust between Management and Staff at RM with respect and fairness top of the priority list. I'm quite sure you are simply misjudging your DOM's intentions. He just wants you to work the hours you are paid in an efficient manner while maintaining the rigourous high standards that the public now expect from RM. Remember ACAS are on your side so what are you worrying about? Just do what you are told and you won't be shot. Understand?

If in doubt see the section in the new Agreement 2010 that specifically deals with managerial bullying and provides you with the protection from intimidation that you need. Can't remember the page number.

Exactly Dingo, many a time I've had people behind me whispering things in my ear for me to say to the dom ( I'm not a rep, just a bloke with a big gob) only for them to do anything he says when I'm not there and making me look like a trouble causer after.
