Insufficient Time for IPS etc in a Delivery Office

Hello,

Today, Thurs 10th June, I delivered my first letter at 10:00 hrs. The last one went in at 14:35 hrs. I am supposed to finish at 12:58 hrs. Traffic wasn't particularly heavy, but too much time has been taken out of indoor work.

I started at 07:00 am, & put in 118 minutes on prep, bundling & bagging up, plus time on IPS, & 15 mins meal relief before going out. How on Earth am I supposed to get back to the office on time? Even if I could do the delivery in the required 3 hr 30 min., plus 20 mins travelling time, & 15 mins loo time. My round has no public WC facilities on it, I am on medication, including diuretics, for high blood pressure, & my condition qualifies under the Disability Discrimination Act. As far as RM goes, they totally ignore it. I am working on a round not of my choice, but imposed by management,; the previous one that I did choose had plenty of WCs on it, & it was fine.

This is beyond a joke. The farce of summer savings will only make it even worse. Two weeks ago, on a Monday, I think, I covered my part of another round under the first day of absence scheme (The same part I'm to do under Summer Savings ). It's supposed to be a few minutes extra, but it involved my delivering 150 items & took 30 minutes. My own round is more spread out, but I only delivered 450 items. Without the extra I would have finished on time. Five days out of six it'll go staight back in as overtime.

Am I really quite as green as I am cabbage looking? When will reality set in?

Note also that our previous two top managers bailed out as soon as it became obvious that the Labour government were not going to privatise RM. Funny, that. Wonder what the bonuses would have been like for a successful privatisation?

And don't quote me any odds for the current govt. privatising or not privatising us. It's a sucker bet if ever there was one.

I'd be inclined to agree with this advice, but it doesn't solve your problem of toilet facilities. I think this is a health and safety issue, so maybe you could raise it with your H&S rep. I think that all walk logs should include toilet stops in them, or at least alternatives. You should ring your dom when you need to go and get him to pick you up imho. Good luck with it anyways.

I agree with cutting off if you don't want the overtime but if you have a medical condition and are covered by the DDA, then I'd put it in writing to your DOM, and CWU rep, that you want your duty to be looked at and amended accordingly as otherwise you'll have to keep travelling back to use the loo etc because of your medical condition.

If you have been classed as DDA by R/M then they have to accomodate your duty accordingly see your rep.
