Sums Don't add up!!!

Post by Cheetah »

Now i know i struggle a bit with maths but...... Correct me if i am wrong here but as part of this wonderfull agreement we were to have a 39 hour week.... The D2D increase (and loss of payment) started this week and we have now to prep the D2D (up to 4 lots) into our fitting. For 3 items it takes me about 10 mins a day, no time has been allocated for this process, so we are being instructed to absorb 1 hr extra each week..... Hence we have realy INCREASED our week to 41 hrs now not the agreed 39 hrs :mad :mad , as it is frowned upon as being petty booking 10 mins per day.....

In some offices the Walk Sequence revisions are in hence they are enjoying the 39 hrs whilst ours is 12 months away so i will work 2 hrs per week more than them which equals 100hrs or 2 and 1/2 extra weeks pay :no no :no no

The union told us this was a good fair deal i can see it's good now because i will take home less pay next week :hmmmm :hmmmm, and i can see its fair because some posties will have an extra 2 and 1/2 weeks pay :mad :mad.....

How silly was i to vote no to such a wonderfull deal and this is just the start.... Well done Billy and Dave, bet you have had your pay rise by now eh lads well worth it :no no :no no

Hence we have realy INCREASED our week to 41 hrs
Do you book for going over(1hr a week)because if you don't then you are still on a 40hr week.

Also tbf there is no way they can do (insert the amount of DO's that have to have a revision) in one hit.

I have to wait a year.

Well i know i should do, but in our office now every minitue of overtime has to be justified giving a recorded reason to a manager when booking it.... As i have come out of the union in disgust of the way they sold delivery out, i am trying to keep a low profile and i know i will end up flying off the hadle and ending up in bother when asked to justify my overtime, so wrongly i'm just grinning and bearing it, hoping someone else for a change kicks off about it.....

Post fron dingo which gives a bit of info...
Delivery methods is also a 3 year plan with offices spread out over those 3 years.

Remember the whole revison process be that goe route , delivery methods and walk sequencing all must be compatible. So without delivery methods you can not have a longer delivery span unless you have a clear and agreed plan on how you are going to deal with weight on delivery.

Equally if you are in year 2 or 3 of walk sequecing but in year 1 of delivery methods then they is no way that you could agree a 4.5 hour delivery span if in year 2 when you have a walk sequencing revison that means because of the arrival of your batches that you can only do a 3.5 or 4 hour span as the delivery span indicator tool would not allow it as that would mean you would have to then take hours out in year 1 but would then have to go back in year 2.

All revisons are part of a 3 year plan rather than just different revisons.

As a new starter, please explain / correct me

I am part time 24h per week, Del Supplement on this weeks payslip is £12.36 is this correct, and do I recieve this payment every week no matter how many D2D's (up to 6) I do (even if none)
If i work my day off or do extra hours does this supplement increase
This week I have completed my walk 4 days extra day on another walk and delivered 4 D2D's each day,
The D2D's on my walk alone would have earned me @0.02 each = £29.60, but going forward I will be getting £12.36.

If the above is correct, I will not be joining the union as the are certainly not acting in my best interests.

Yes, £12.36 is correct for a 24hr week.

This payment is not linked to D2D's. It will make no difference to the supplement whether you deliver any D2D's or not. It is a supplement paid to staff working in DO's.

Try and console yourself with the thought that you will continue to receive this supplement while you're on holiday and some other poor schmuck is delivering the bastard things.

Is this delivery supplement based on only contracted hours ? If a part timer does an extra day is he compensated for that extra day. If not, why not. Similarly if a full timer goes sick for a couple of days, will he be docked the delivery supplement as he has not delivered. If not, why not.

Lincox,
Yes the supplement is based on contracted hours. It will make no difference if you,or a full-timer for that matter, work over or under their hours.
£20.60 per week for full-timers and pro rata for part-timers, end of.

No employer can make you work more than your contracted time. If you are getting out onto your duty past your scheduled time, then simply cut off by that amount.
I cut off almost everyday. I am waiting for my comrades to do the job right and join me.

Tbh, the D2D haven't affected me in the slightest yet, but then again there was only a couple this week.

Alright Banner, have you had any grief from your DOM at all about cutting off?

What's your process? I had to cut off last week because I was on collections and my manager said that was unacceptable, I was already working till 3 every day before I cut off but it was worse that was doing it to get back to collections than it would have been if I'd just got bored and gone home apparently.

My rep actually gave me some good advice about what to do in the Conduct meeting that I've now been 'invited' to but where can I go from here? Good job I'm in the union because me and my DOM have been exchanging some 'strong' words recently over this whole thing.

He also says that I cannot do any overtime (skeddies or not) if I cannot complete my round in the given time, is this true or bollocks?

I get constant grief but this is with the backdrop where only a handful of others do the job right. This allows them to pressure and intimidate individuals. This is why I remonstrate on here against people not doing their jobs right. The true solution is to have clocking in and out procedures, but that would ruin the USO and they know it. The next best thing is to stick together by doing things right. Many duties I cover are manageable so I have no need to cut off but some aren't and so I do. With cut offs, I generally find that it is not that managers don't believe you about the workload because they already have an opinion about your work ethic. It is the fact that it causes hassle for them.

There is a simple way of looking at things as they stand now.

Majority continue cutting corners and accept any workload and a few do the job right (as is now) = No changes
Most or all doing the job right = Changes and possible revisions to make manageable workloads
Manageable workloads brought in, but then people go back to chasing time = Revisions to increase workloads again
