D2D's - Conduct code if one sixth not delivered daily !

Post by Tommase »

I know this should be the scenario now i.e. you must deliver a sixth of your D2D's daily but we have been told today that if you were to come in the start of the week not anticipating to do your D2D's until say the Thurs/Fri (peak volume days) and was absent before said day(s) we will be liable to the conduct code!

And in turn the rounds man who is covering the absent party is then responsible and must deliver all items or they will also be subjected to the same treatment!

Also told no additional prep time is made available for D2D's compilation.

We had a big ding dong with our dom and our rep because people were not starting their d2d,s. We have now been told to take one row (of the frame) per day.

However most frames are only 4 rows so i guess we get friday off :hmmmm
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

That would seem the logical way of completing but our line manager said we have to take one contract a day  so in effect every call six days a week ! I realise that D2D's are now classed as mail and not leaflets, just seems tyrannical to impose new rules and the idiots guide instruction they sent out makes your blood boil.

'Start with an empty frame, sit comfortably, all mail must be thrown in prior to D2D's'

It is your line manager's responsibility to ensure that 1/6th is done on a daily basis.

All they need to do is go round the office each morning and check off against a list of the duties that each one has been done. Not exactly hard work, ffs!

They seem intent on trying to load all the responsibility for these things onto the poor postie.
Don't allow them to get away with it!

To true been there myself before I got some service and my own rural duty.

Always maintained that OPG’s with service should get paid a premium (used to have coaches remember them !) to be the reserve/float. That way new starters don’t get disenfranchised with the company and leave after 2 weeks of being royally messed about

It's nothing to do with any payment.
The delivery supplement does not relate to D2D at all.
Royal Mail have painted themselves into a corner with this issue.
No-one can be conduct coded for not doing them on a particular day even the floater because RM have allowed the duty holders to manage the D2D on a weekly basis.
The only way anybody can be conduct coded is if the contract is not completed and in this case who will hold their hands up and admit they didn't do it?
They can go out and ask the punters but by the time they get around to that who will remember? There is that much sh*t comes through my door i couldn't tell you what my D2D was this week
It is one persons word against anothers. :d'oh!
Typical half-assed implementation i can't wait for the first "conduct case".
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

In our office this week there are so many duties on o/t that they have had to draught managers in on some days to deliver them, even then some stayed in until the next day.On these duties the parcels weren't getting taken never mind d2d so under all the frames are untouched d2d.People prepping the duties aren't being told to put any d2d in and if they did wouldn't know which part to do because nothing has been arranged plus they are that desperate to get rounds done they don't want to put people off by saying they have to take d2d. Now when the normal duty holders return next week to this weeks d2d's plus whatever comes in next week surely they would be entitled to refuse to do the ones left from this week because people who have done the o/t should have done them. I know I would refuse and argue the fact that they should get everyone who has done the duty on o/t to split the d2ds that were left between them.

I'm sure this situation will crop up alot so was wondering if anything official about how this should be handled is known?

I would agree with the making it up as they go along, I was on of sat and mon. came in to a half boxed in frame of d2ds nmo idea of what my floater had done apart from amounts of so many in certain streets, which is not going to work when they put a different person on to box in, when they dont already know what has already been boxed in. Around 100 dtds have to be done on this duty every day but person who covered it on Monday only 72 of an easy bit, Mangers, well not interested for a fact, until I dont my 100 every day!
