D2D - Cold Calling !!!
Has anyone implemented the new D2D agreement in Delivery Offices without changing the National Agreement by Local Agreement to suit Royal Mail........!! The reason im asking this question, Royal Mail have realised by Cold Calling on 1/6 of a delivery will take lot longer especially on deep Rural, which will increase pressure overtime & cut-offs.
Would it be wrong to change the National D2D agreement by Local Agreement ???? What changes have you made to the agreement ?

The managers guide to DTD says and I quote
•On Mondays, people may also wish to sort D2D items to any delivery points which are known to receive mail infrequently, reducing the need for cold calling later in the week.

Re: D2D - Cold Calling !!!
I don't think RM actually want us to be cold calling, i think there has been some confusion with D2D being refered to as 'live mail'. As you say if we cold call it takes longer (much longer on rural) and also response rates are much lower if they are not delivered with addressed mail. People just see a pile of junk and put it straight in the bin, if there are addressed letters with them they are more likely to read them.

Re: D2D - Cold Calling !!!
Whilst this may involve cold calling at some address points for which there are no other items it is the best approach overall as it is easy to understand, communicate and monitor.

When, for the first time in god knows how long mail volumes are actually increasing due to D2D into workload it absolutely amazes me that so many people want to cut corners.Big Daz wrote:The managers guide to DTD says and I quote

Of course RM don't want you to cold call...they want D2D into workload to have as little impact as possible so they can continue to cut hours.
Why don't we go the whole hog and come in on Sunday on our own time and just prep and deliver the whole lot.
Try not to make it too easy for them.

Re: D2D - Cold Calling !!!
I thought the whole idea of d2d s in work load was strongly put forward by the union in an attempt to keep jobs. So why is everyone complaining about having to deliver them when there is no other mail for the household on that particular day. This must surely put up the call rate and by that increases the amount of time our deliveries take. We have posties in our office who have not yet grasped the concept of starting at their proper times and taking the d2ds as if they were live mail, instead either still taking them home or coming in up to 2 hrs early to deal with them...WHY? The whole point of the exercise is to get hours PUT BACK INTO an office and this has to be done by proving to RM that on the existing hours this work load can not be done. So for those of you who choose to work for nothing and give up your own time to work for free, you are the bigger mugs and dont complain when your hours are not increased. JUst remember you are no longer being paid for them as such so why work for nothing!

Re: D2D - Cold Calling !!!
Thats the problem with RM mate...........Too many spanners, twats rushing about still, merging, absorbing, doing all thier D2D's on a monday or a tuesday or whenever to suit themselves. Take today some twat knocked a coffin into the back of me as he was running, yes "RUNNING" around the office so he could get his absorbtion done quickly so he could go out and merge. I was gonna smash the f****r in the face, and yes he was one of the bellends that came in on the strikes. As for me i never got out the office till 10.00 and finished at 2.15 so i will be booking tomorrow morning. Infact if tomorrows workload is like todays then ill be cutting off. All im saying is im working to the new agreement and abying by all the rules of the job,(H&S etc) and proving to them that it is'nt working.fishtank wrote:When, for the first time in god knows how long mail volumes are actually increasing due to D2D into workload it absolutely amazes me that so many people want to cut corners.Big Daz wrote:The managers guide to DTD says and I quote

Re: D2D - Cold Calling !!!
In all seriousness, i can see it kicking off in most offices around the country, what with some of the plums you have to work with. The managers are clueless and hav'nt got answers to any questions raised at wtl. Thought our f****r was gonna cry yesterday after we grilled him and his sidekick. As for your strike breaker, f**k him.wf wrote:creedscat wrote:Thats the problem with RM mate...........Too many spanners, twats rushing about still, merging, absorbing, doing all thier D2D's on a monday or a tuesday or whenever to suit themselves. Re: D2D - Cold Calling !!!
Cutting off is a really hard thing to do as it will probably turn your manager into an enemy e.g do everything to make your working life hard but they probably do that anyway. When you cut off do you need to take the mail back to the delivery office and telephone a manager?
