Every delivery should have had this on Monday

Post by celerycelery »

The thicko DIM's should have printed this out last week and given 1 to every delivery in the office. It would have solved alot of problems that have arisen in my opinion :

Prep and deliver 1/6th of the D2D mail each day, starting each Monday with completion each Saturday

D2D items should be placed last into the prep frame after any walk sequenced or manual mails.

Each prep fitting is to be split, by the walk holder into 6 equal parts. (Number of delivery points e.g. 600 calls divided by 6 equals 110 calls to be delivered daily).

Starting at the top left of your prep frame and working from left to right count the delivery points, in the example above 110 calls and place a sticky dot. Continue this process until you reach the end of your frame in the bottom right hand corner.

From monday prep and deliver 1/6th of the D2D mail, starting from the top left of your frame. Delivery of D2D items are to completed with the final 1/6th being delivered on Saturday.

It is extremely important that you follow this process to ensure your day off cover duty delivers the correct 1/6th depending on your day off.

Where a walk is prepped for a bag carrier, by an individual performing a double prep, the D2D is to be prepped for the bag carrier in line with the above requirements of the 1/6th per day.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Cut him some slack hes probably had a hard day! :whistle
Maths aside! for a moment theres an alternative way of dividing your frame which is into columns.
This spreads the weight around your bags more evenly.

do the d2ds from top to bottom in sections its a lot better your bags arent so heavy , has it breaks them up instead of doing it left to right , who came up with this left to right its obvious they dont do delivery .

Its just getting more and more confusing by the day.

I ve told my dom that iam going to do one row of the frame a day (25%) which gives me a day to play with if something crops up. He’s fine with that at the moment (its breaking his head anyway) as he just wants them done. As for my rest day cover at the moment I am prepared to let him off as his slower than me and struggles to finish anyway. I might change that if we get more and more contracts. :hmmmm
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Seems everybody is assuming we've all got frames with 1slot 1 house, unfortunately on mine I haven't, I have a couple of streets that are doubled up and there is no way on hell I'm taking them out to slip a shitty piece of D2D in the middle. There is also one office a few miles away that I worked in 6 or 7 times a couple of years ago that have old fashioned frames where some have3 and 4 houses in some of the slots and they can't be changed cos they just haven't got the room. So hows the cover going to know what's been done if postie goes sick and nothings marked up.

we are doing it in columns at our do because if some one ducks, the f/t people absorb a row each and so wouldnt be fair if one row had all d2ds in and other 3 didnt

the assumption is also being made that the walk is carried out in the same order as the frame is set out - left to right, top to bottom. In addition to that one word - tenements - only one slot per 2/3 flats per landing on a frame - doesn't make sense to put the d2d into the fitting.

Boss has been given a detailed list of how the frame should be organised, only because it will ultimately make mine and the rest day cover life easier. Yes I know the boss should have done all of this, but to be honest this walk has been a shambles since probably before I'd even left school the way other folk talk about it :shhhhh

Brother chunk and of course maths aside how can it realistically by your method of dividing your frame into columns spread the weight around your bags more evenly. Bag or pouch weights are now one at 16k and all of the remainder at 11k apart from terrain assessed etc. Therefore no matter which way you do it and no matter what is in the pouches you are still going to be carrying the same weights with or without D2D providing all pouches have of course been weighed before commencement of delivery.

It's like saying which is the heavier a ton of feathers or a ton of coal - they both weigh a ton.

I think brothermagrew, that what brother chunk means is that if you use the collumns method you may not have to split your bags to conform to the bag weight matrix.
Although obviously you would weigh your bags first to make sure this was the case.

The way I have tried to do it is divide the average bags by 1/6 and do it that way. Also I do it from bottom right to top left as this means that I carry the D2D furthest on the lighter mail days, and on the heavy days carry the D2Ds for less time.

Brother Magrew Apologies for my poor communication.
OK Example . :hmmmm
I have a dead end terraced street 1 to 100 approx that i usually loop.
The hct or cycle i lock and park up! a bag 3/4 full takes me down and back.
because my frame runs in the order of delivery i will likely have d2d for the whole street on one day putting me into 2 bag territory.
and killing my loop!
similar problems are likely on different days with different streets.
columns mean (for my frame) half a street here half a street there.
hope thats more clear
I accept the total delivery weight will be the same and the bag matrix the same. :Very Happy
