if u have said this stupid comment or something similar why dont u grow a brain and make ur own decisions which will in turn grow and grow until eveyone is doing it.....

the ones of us who r doing the job properly are getting hammered by threatening letters and verbal abuse from managers as you are all gaining any where up to 60 mins per day extra delivery time than us who do the job properly and use public transport or royal mail acceleration, so thanks to all the "i'll do it if the rest of them do it" men, u r making r lives hell and proving lapsing can be done based around a car and costing men jobs

Yes you are totally right and I understand your frustration when your being given warning letters for not completing and others using cars are running rings around you, its simply not fair.

However times are changing and RM is at last waking up to the risks involved in letting people use there cars on delivery. Under the new agreement private cars will be banned and it will once again be a discipline matter if your caught. Unfortunately this is going to take a while to be properly introduced but through the schemes like van sharing it will happen.

Just hang in there and do the job properly and remember to inform a manager if you cannot complete before you go out.

A good trick is to say No firmly and then walk away.
Find something else to do at the other end of the office preferably over towards your rep.
They will rarely follow you as this looks as if they are hounding you.

I for one will be glad when van sharing comes in and I can stop using my car. I understand the arguments against it and that I could do so now but the simple fact is that as a part timer who gets messed about enough anyway using your car just makes life that little bit easer. I am certainly not looking to finish early or "run rings" round anyone or ruin someone elses job. I also realise its playing into RM hands but it really isnt possible to complete the duty plus lapsed in the time allotted. So,,,cut off and bring mail back,,What a load of hassle. Is it really worth it at this stage when your on a six month trial to start making a stand against something that hopefully will soon be a thing of the past anyway ?

Maybe the union reps should concentrate on these issues in offices and organise colleagues to make a stand. I havnt got a clue who my rep is. He certainly hasnt made himself known to me and tried to recruit me as a member. i understand what your saying but using your own car is a no no!. just think of the docket if you said no or even say you cant complete and leave the shite in....just remember d2d is a part of workload now so can be left in with the bag you leave....f*ckthem

I Have said this time and time again it’s the idiots that are coming in early that is running rings around others, take Today Tom and Bob comes in at 4 45 am, I come in at 5.30 am Managers say‘s to me "Jenny can you throw Walk 14 off instead of going on the IPS” I throw it off, prep my own as well. 9 30 am Manager say’s to me “Jenny “can you put the 6% Door to Doors Together on Walk 14 and throw them off as well, its part of the work structure now”
Tom and Bob is flying out the door at 9 30 am and have done their absorption by this time as well, I’m like idiot still prepping up, that don’t sound right to me, nobody should be let out till 10 am. Simple.
So we can’t keep blaming car owners, make coming in early compulsory and make them take their breaks….

One trick ive found that takes away the feeling of being stressed is to have an excuse ready. Now I know you really should not have to lie to get them off your back but it helps in the short term.

Its easier if you have kids as it “sorry guv I have to take Tommy to the dentist today “ or “sorry I have to see tommys head teacher”. Even things like “sorry I have someone coming to look at my washing machine”. You get the idea.

I picked up on this years back when certain guys never got pressurised into extending as they had a sick relative that needed care and the managers didn’t even ask them in the end as it became accepted.

Its not right that you should resort to this sort of thing but ive known posties to become so stressed out they have simply walked out so sometimes you have to dodge confrontation and play the game a little.

But i really think the time is right for another
Its getting the men and women to stand together as one
But i think if the union really pushed this now it would be a great help to those ,who want to but are too scared to stand alone.
there is a grand total of four of us doing it properly in our office at the min.

The office I work in has a lot of 22.5 and 25 hour staff, about 90% of them come in at least an hour before their start time dont take breaks and use their cars. Its all about getting your duty done and being home in time to pick kids up from school. I have a son who has adhd and cant be left for any length of time from school coming out, but despite having this argument with manangers for 3 years now I am still finding problems on a daily basis. We now have to text a manager with the number of a special item if it has P739 and they have to be done before 1 pm, which often means having to go round with them first. Thats ok if you use your car but if you dont it can add a fair bit of time to your round. Then they say you cant claim overtime if you are already out the door and havent said so before hand. Its a no win situation. I am part-time 22.5 hours but have one of the largest duties in my office, almost double the doors on d2d but get paid half! Dont think its the best idea yet!!!

If you get your finger out and do it faster we will ALL be happy . Your DOM is happy cos your faster and more efficient and WE are happy cos we dont have to listen to your namecalling and general s**t anymore .

I undestand what your saying. But why are you using your phone for this? They have to deliver the specials if you cant. so best inform them before you leave the office. By using your car they dont know how long the job really takes.
