I'm sorry

Post by smelly_cat_lady »

When I was born into this life, no one told me it was going to be like this:
When I was about 18 months old I was expected to stand on my own 2 feet and walk without Mummy holding my hand
When I was 2 I had to learn to speak and slowly I got beyond Dick, Dora, Fluff and Nip
When I was 5 I had to go to school all by myself. Mummy cut the apron strings
When I was 8 I had to go to big school with all the big kids and my Mummy told me to fight my own battles
When I was 16 I had to take exams without Mummy helping me with the answers and it was really really hard
When I left school I grew up and had to go to work in the big bad world and earn my own money coz Mummy stopped my pocket money
but
I stood on my own 2 feet
I learnt to speak to people and ask questions
I don't run to Mummy anymore
I fight my own battles and won't be bullied by anyone
I took tests and went to interviews by myself
I got a job one day at Royal Mail and I was more than adequately equipped to take my place in the real world. Without grizzling, without blaming anyone and without my Mummy holding my hand!

So, I'm sorry I'm not like all you bleeding hearts that want to send every poor ickle baby to counselling because life is hard
I'm sorry I'm not more sympathetic

I am however, honest, hard working and admirable of people that try and put in some effort instead of sitting around expecting the world to pay them a living whilst they sit around groaning and moaning that boo hoo! life ain't fair

Get over it and get on with it and if ever you lack inspiration, remember there is always someone worse off than you

I bet you never hear this lot crying

and i'm willing to bet they don't really do counselling either..........................

Smelly Cat Lady with compassion like yours you are wasted here working for Royal Mail. You need a job that would allow you to demonstrate your caring, considerate, empathetic side. Something that could truly showcase your talents - - - - - a job with the Samaritans. LOL.

Imagine the following; it’s a cold wet night in November and the phone rings in the Samaritans' office

SCL: What?

Caller: ‘Ello, is that the Samaritans?

SCL: Yeah. Whaddya want?

Caller: I’m feeling terribly depressed right now. My only child has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. My wife’s left me for my best friend. I’ve lost my job and the house is about to be repossessed.

SCL: Oh for goodness sake! Listen to yourself, you snivelling wretch! You pathetic excuse for a human being! Just do the world a favour and top yourself, will you? My advice to you is to slit down the veins in your wrist, not across. Think you manage that, wimp?

Line goes dead. SCL thinks to herself "was I a bit harsh on him? Oh, who cares?".

To show empathy is to identify with another's feelings. It is to emotionally put yourself in the place of another. The ability to empathize is directly dependent on your ability to feel your own feelings and identify them.

Those who are not in touch with their own feelings are not likely to have a sense of conscience. They may feel no remorse, no guilt for causing harm to others.

They are also likely to be extremely needy. In other words they have many, and deep, unmet emotional needs.. As adults, they will have developed elaborate defense mechanisms in an attempt to block the pain coming from both these unmet needs and from the guilt they would feel if they allowed themselves to feel.

Attempts to defend our brains from psychological pain usually involve the cognitive parts of the brain. For example, common defenses are rationalization, justification, denial, intellectualization, moralizing, preaching, proselytizing, self-righteousness, projection, suppression, etc.

That sounds like a dictionary definition of some RM managers I know.
