Hi Lads and lasses

I was on my delivery this morning and this car pulled up and this lady got out and said to me did you put a card through my door(now this lady lives two roads away) Brain trying to kick in, she says you never knocked? mmmm we'll I had no packet me thinking, more cogs ticking over was the card grey and white the reply yes we'll if you read it it says you have to pay and ring the delivery office, with that she got back in the car and drove off, not a word of thanks

Same happened to me one saturday morning. Customer chased me down the road in his dressing gown swearing and shouting that I hadn't knocked etc... I was a bit confused because I'm elderly and a little infirm and couldn't remember writing one out but.. oh well, we stormed back up the hill past the other 12 houses I'd just delivered to, only to find his wife standing on the doorstep with a grey and white card.........no apology. nothing. just got the door slammed in my face. No more parcels over the back gate for you buddy!

Yeah it happens a lot . The payment ones are the funniest . They come out screaming I WAS IN AND YOU NEVER KNOCKED ! ! ! !

Simple reply for a simple person ........ Why would I knock your door to tell you you owed some money to RM ???

They look bewildered and I just tell them to read the card as ALL the info they need is on it .

I f***ing hate these!

Now I fully understand that Royal Mail should seek to recoup the unpaid postage. We cannot just deliver letters for free. But I think putting it in letter form or even the card into an envelope is a bit more formal and including some more information.

I had an old woman come out to me recently about one I put through to her. 'What's this for?' 'Ummm as it says, the person that sent the letter didnt pay appropiate postage for the item.' 'Oh, what is it? Something from a business?' 'I don't know, it is taken out of the cycle before the actual letter arrives to me, I only get that card to deliver. I have not seen your letter.' '£1.10!' 'I am not in the position to decide on the fee's placed on underpaid mail items, I'm just your Postie.' 'Well I will give you the money then, hang on.' 'I'm sorry, but I cant take money from you. There are payment options on the bottom of the card, you will need to choose one of those.' 'But i dont have a car or any transport to get upto the office to get the letter!' 'Read the f***ing card and it will get delivered to you!' Okies, I never said that bit, but seriously, read the damn thing!

Anyone remember the Big BT ones we got last year - on one day I had 5 people coming out asking why I had not knocked. I mean since when have RM done A4 says form lefts.

Those cards are a pain.

I once had someone yelling at me "Why did you deliver this to my house, it has YOUR DEPOT ADDRESS ON IT, WHY DELIVER IT TO ME WHEN IT IS ADDRESSED TO THE SORTING OFFICE!"

I had to calmly tell him to turn the card over, and read what it said..

I had a slightly odd experience today.
posted a handful of letters through a door,they hardly hit the floor and the door opened this guy justs looks at me.
i just give a nod.. he might be on his way out or anything but none of my business,
but its apparent he,s scowling at me!
"you didn't ring"
I had to think about this for a second.
" you only had letters today i don't generally ring".
He bends down and picks up a surcharge notice and says wheres my parcel?
penny drops! for me anyway
I says "thats not a parcel but a letter that didn't have anough stamps on it".
he says if i pay you the cash now can i have it now. .

I'm quite offended! this guy has been reading the recent "notice left" articles in the press and thought he'd caught me failing to deliver a parcel.

Reminded me of this old post.

but the bilingual Welsh ones are A5 not the usual; English A6.

Same thing has happened to me, I put the card through and a woman came out when I was halfway down the street shouting "You didn't knock!" I just replied "You're right." and carried on with my delivery. Coming back on the other side of the street her hubby came out giving me attitude..."Why didn't you answer her question?" I said "She didn't ask one, she just made a statement." I could see his little brain struggling with the concept so added "read the card." He just stomped back inside and slammed the door.

If she'd just asked politely I'd have explained it to her.

i normally politely say did you read the card then im giving a blank look and i explain that the sender never paid the postage eventually the penny drops
