Other branches may wish to adopt this approach. I will be contactong all ADRs for a report on how the negotiations on D2D in your area are going.

How we manage Door to door in our office

• All deliveries will deliver any D2D items for their walk as part of regular workload.

• The number of items/ contracts will increase over time, in a phased way.

• Arrivals of D2D items must form part of the mandatory weekly resource meetings.

• Pouches must not exceed the weight limit as displayed in your unit.

• D2D mail will be on the frame by the start of duty each Monday. Designated duties to be identified to distribute items arriving each Saturday.

• Prep and deliver 1/6th of the D2D mail each day, starting each Monday with completion each Saturday.

• D2D items should be placed last into the prep frame after any walk sequenced or manual mails.

• All D2D should be delivered in line with product specification, by the required date of the contract.

• Items not being delivered that day should be stored neatly in boxes or trays beneath your prep frame.

• Everyone will complete a walk control sheet confirming D2D delivery.

• All surplus items are to be handed back to your line manager at the end of each week. The number returned will be recorded and remedial action will be taken, where required.

• Any issues experienced during the bedding in period (7/06/2010 to 22/06/2010) that cannot be resolved locally are to be raised immediately for resolution between the DSM and Area CWU Representative.

• Each prep fitting is to be split, by the walk holder into 6 equal parts. (Number of delivery points e.g. 660 divided by 6 equals 110 to be delivered daily.

• Starting at the top left of your prep frame and working from left to right count the delivery points, in the case above 110 and place a sticky dot. Continue this process until you reach the end of your frame in the bottom right hand corner.

• From Monday prep and deliver 1/6th of D2D Mail starting from the top left of your frame. Delivery of D2D items are to be completed with the final 1/6th being delivered on Saturday.

• It is extremely important that you all follow this process to ensure your day off cover duty delivers the correct 1/6th depending on your day off.

• Please note, Bank Holiday weeks: 1/5th of delivery points are to be delivered per day.

• If you feel you are unable to complete your delivery by your scheduled completion time, in line with normal requirements overtime is to be agreed with your line manager prior to departure.

• If a delivery is on absence overtime. The overtime volunteer is accountable for delivering the D2D mail due on that day.

• Where a walk is prepped for a bag carrier, by an individual performing a double prep, the D2D is to be prepped for the bag carrier in line with the above requirements of 1/6th per day.

If you experience any problems with D2D

If you are having any issues managing the delivery of your D2D items, speak to your line manager as soon as possible.
They will work with you to resolve the issue and make sure you can deliver the product correctly and to time.

yes its great on paper now back in the real world , what if a customer wants them delivered by say a tuesday how is that 1/6th surely thats 50% x 2 , and a bank holiday and your day off is a tuesday how does that work ? 4 days to deliver them , so how will you get the time to prep all these other dutys as well as your meal break? and not work past your time? its a joke.

Have the people who formed these rules ever delivered DTDs - try putting some of the crap we get into a full fitting at speed. Far better to put them in first and use them as the back marker for each call, that way the address is visible as you approach each call. I have colleagues who have double address slots - they won't find it easy either way - oh but then the walks are supposed to be reduced to reflect increased traffic caused by DTD into workload - or are they???. We have our overall pay reduction and proposed DTD increase starting next week and our revision not scheduled until september - smells like a rip off to me.

This is RMs call rhino.
They don't want anything compromising the mail prep rate especially with WSM.
Personally i agree with you,putting D2D into an already prepped frame,especially with double slots will be a nightmare.

Why do door to doors from the top left of the frame when each frame is bagged from the top right?

This means you could be taking out a whole streets worth of leaflets, which could be a nightmare if the heavy material or pens are out.

So why not do one sixth of the frame in vertical sections. That way you are doing a portion of each street rather than the whole road.

If i follow the guidelines (which i shall) Ill now have to split certain roads into 2 or (sometimes more) bags meaning more replenishment time and less time to do them.

Also putting these things in last will mean ill struggle to get out on time as IPS doesnt finish until our break. This will leave me about 5 mins to get them in to an already stuffed frame. I always put them in first as its easier and i dont put myself under pressure with time.

Am I right to think he cant do this??

no tell him to read the so called agreement it is 1/6th per day which means mon to sat ,managers have a rule of there own (not now) and work to your time and take your meal break , more problems for managers , any problems see your union rep.

I think it will be the week after. Next week, you will get paid for this weeks D2D's.

I Know exactly what is going to happen in our office. We have a portion of posties who come in EXTRA early so they can get the work done early.and be queuing at the door in the morning to go.But that is how stupid they are. After our wtl session the other day, they were horrified that the agreement stipulates that the d2ds are now part of the workload and should be dealt with as if part of their mail.and thrown in thr frames accordingly. My comments were that this will take longer to prep our duties and should at this point be showing to increase our prep and delivery span. The thickos cant get it into their heads, and were heard to say " im just carrying on as we used to and no one is telling me how to do my job." They dont understand that sticking to the RM guidelines will prove a point and by doing this there will not be time to do any lapsing either!

Another problem with one sixth a day is this:
part of your job could have terraced streets ,another part drives, another gates and paths, what I find i can deliver more on one part of the duty in the same time it takes to deliver far less on another part, so equal daily delivery amounts will not work on my route.
