GIVE ME A REASON

Hi can anyone give me a valid reason to stay in this union, We all know what is happening with D2D from monday but so far our office have been told nothing, Dispite calls to the area rep and emails to the branch office with no replys we are in limbo, as we see it there is no national or local agreement on D2D so we will carrying on as normal until someone with bottle from this union comes to our office and address its members and let us know what the hell is going on.

We have not yet been told officially about either the D2D payment issue nor summer lapsing both of which are rumoured to start next week. I asked my lino and he said yes, he'd been told both are supposed to start next week. He made no reference to whether the increase in indoor workload (as D2D will now be done in work's time) would affect lapsing.

As Royal Mail is part of the communications industry you would think they would be able to pass on information as and when needed.

In Worktime yawning and dozing this morning we were told summer plan starts next week, and so does the D2D supplement, all the non-union people started moaing how unfair the D2D thing was, they didn't moan when they picked up the carrot though.

On topic:
I'm staying in the Union, mainly for the other benefits, ( back up if you have a dispute with a Lino), but I wont go on strike again.....ever

Same - but I wont say never - just that the reason to vote for a strike will have to be a strong one after the let down we had last year.

However, even if I vote No and the Yes lobby win - I will strike.

We have'nt been told about the D2D payment loss next week at my office. Regarding the lapsing our rep put in a disagreement and won, the DOM came back with you either do the lapsing or you do extra sorting. We had a meeting this morning and i'd say 99% of us voted for the extra sorting. I said to one of the LM's that we'd probably run out of stuff to sort anyway, he said we'll have you tidying the office before you all go out then...........I don't have a problem with that

Yes, I can give you 2:
1) Although I agree, that HQ have been letting us down for quite some time now. In my experience, the local and area Reps ARE on our side, and work hard for us.
2) If you leave the Union. You'll loose the backup from the local and area Reps. Which at a time like this, wouldn't be such a good idea. After all. Who else is there to back you up, when you need it?
