What are ACAS doing?

Post by dogfood »

The union have had several meetings with RM Managment and ACAS.

If ACAS are ment to act as mediators at the talks why haven't they put any pressure on RM to start talks. It seems that the CWU are going to these meetings with a reasonable attitude of we are aware of competition, we are aware changes will be required, lets talk of tackling these issues in a manner that protect RM and its workers whilst ensuring we meet the challenge of competition.

Surely, any meaningful talks can only start from this posistion. Why can't ACAS insist RM start negotiations from this persepective? Otherwise what is the point of involving ACAS?

Interesting point mate.... as i assume involving ACAS costs money, who foots the bill for that i wonder, and why have they been absolutely useless at what is supposed to be their job!!!!

DOGFOOD YOU HAVE TO LOOK DEEPER THAN ACAS. I HATE TO SAY IT BUT THE POWERS TO BE ARE LOOKING TO BRAKE US AND THE UNION. ACHIEVING ONE WILL AUTOMATICLY BRING ABOUT THE DEMISE OF THE OTHER. HOWEVER LEIGHTON NEEDS TO REALISE HE'S NOT DEALING WITH A BUNCH OF PEOPLE PUSHING TILL BUTTONS NOW.(NO OFFENCE INTENDED).

ACAS is waiting for the CWU to stop pretending it can do anything about Royal Mails investment plans and start acting like a responsible trade union

REALITYCHECKPOINT I DONT KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS A PROBLEM WITH RM'S INVESTMENT PLANS.THEY CAN USE THE MONEY ANYWAY THEY SEE FIT, BUT WHAT THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO SEE IS SOMEONE DOING ANOTHER PERSON'S WALK AND NOT GETTING PAID FOR IT. SO GET USED TO IT AND MOVE ON. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A REALITY CHECK POINT.

What like protecting the workers terms and conditions and stopping changes being forced upon a workforce. :d'oh!

I read in the Times a few days ago that they've been meeting at ACAS but neither side has actually asked ACAS to mediate. I guess they're just watching talks to report back to the government and providing the conference room.

Could be a RM mole, infiltrating the ranks to breed dissent, you know, divide and conquer etc...etc.....He'd have a helluva job convincing me that Leighton and Crozier only want the best for us.....The only people that are going to help us, is US, with the unions help we will get a better deal, not the sh*tty one that Shifty and Dodgy are trying force on us.

STAND BEHIND THE UNION AND GIVE THEM YOUR SUPPORT.
:Applause WITHOUT THEM WE WILL END UP WITH NOTHING, BUT MISERY!!!! :Applause

Typical RM / CWU MEETING

Post by deadbox »

Right, lets get started......

RM : OK....This is what we are going to do.....Cut Jobs...Make you work harder....Cut pay.....SACK anyone who doesn't fall in line.

CWU : OK maybe we can negotiate on this....

RM : No you don't understand...this is what we are going to do.....Cut Jobs...Make you work harder....Cut pay.....SACK anyone who doesn't fall in line.

CWU : surely we can come to some sort of agreement on this.....

RM : No you don't understand...this is what we are going to do.....Cut Jobs...Make you work harder....Cut pay.....SACK anyone who doesn't fall in line.

CWU : lets be reasonable......

RM : No you don't understand...this is what we are going to do.....Cut Jobs...Make you work harder....Cut pay.....SACK anyone who doesn't fall in line.

RM : Bye...
I was sure I'd seen a bead of sweat on my line manager the other day - Until I realised that he had just brushed past me too close

Good Post.
Perhaps a couple of the persons above would like to comment on this `piece`, is this what they mean when they mention negotiation? Or any of the other DOM`S perhaps? come on don't be shy!
