Saturday guaranteed specials

You know the ones with the circular yellow SG sticker on them. So what's the procedure with specials on a Saturday? Are these the only ones that have to be attempted? Can all the rest be left until Monday including residentials? It's a bit of a blurred area but the SG's do cost two pound more to send.

In my office every special goes out, so I think the SG is a con.

SG is Guarenteed Saturday delivery, maybe thats the only day they can recieve it.

However, last one I had the person didnt answer the door, 7 quid odd someone payed. Total waste of cash.

At my place we take them all,but it does seem that some offices don't.

I thought ALL Special Deliveries went out on a Saturday, except perhaps businesses to which there was no access then, SG just being a way of raising an extra £2.25 , not that that will go far towards solving the pension deficit

Occasionally we have Sat Guaranteed before 9 o'clock.
They cost an absolute fortune to send - and usually to a business that is shut on Sat.
Some people have more money than sense. (Not me unfortunately)

Thats what I love about Royal Mail, national standards be rigorously adhered to. Surely a special is a special regardless of the day of the week and it shoud go out, unless as said it's a firm on retentions, we take everything out on Saturdays in our office, get rid of it while you can, no point leaving it for Monday and adding to the pile,

Specials are only guaranteed monday to friday. If you want 1 that will 100% be delivered on a saturday you pay extra and the item has a SG mark on it. Most offices do take all specials on a saturday though but apart from the SG ones they do not have to be delivered by 1pm on the saturday.

This is quote from RM website "You can use Special Delivery™ Next Day from Monday to Friday, except bank holidays or public holidays. If you need your item sent over the weekend, you can also arrange a guaranteed Saturday Delivery available at just £2.25 extra per item."

I do find it funny though that RM say the special delivery is available next working day but you have to pay extra for a saturday delivery. Presume they dont count saturday as a working day but expect us all to work on it!!!!

Saturday never has been classed as a "working day" by most companies. 15 workings days is 3 weeks (providing there are no b/hols).

I think BT Openreach's working days must be less though. It said they would contact me within 25 working days... that was the 26th March

Anyhoo, we take out all specials on a Saturday unless the place is shut. And I've seen 9 o'clock SG ones for places that are shut.

If I sent something on a friday and I wanted it to be delivered on the monday, when the recipient was taking a day off to receive it, I obviously wouldn't choose the saturday special option. Wouldn't I, and the recipient, have the right to be a bit miffed if it was delivered on the saturday, when he was out?

I've recently been having more specials on a saturday than any other day of the week, and none of them are saturday specials.

It's a bit strange that you can leave a reg on a saturday but you can't leave a second class letter.
Fair enough if it's for a business that's shut but other than that............it should IMHO be delivered.

If RM can count Sundays and bank holidays as working days for attendance procedures then surely they must count them for specials
