6 Month Trial Period.

You should have an appraisal of your 6months performance with your line manager. They will probablly be too lazy to bother with it though.

Normally you decide this isn't the job for you and you leave. That's what happens with most of the newstarts in my DO, sometimes before the end of the 6 month trial period.
Actually it isn't simply that the job isn't for them. They get pissed off with the poor training, the lack of help, the lack of information, the moving from one walk to another, the fatigue, the stress and the realization that they will be expected to live on a part-time wage for the rest of their life. Or something like that.

Yes all very true but better than the dole for now !! If the previous six months is anything to go by I think an appraisal is highly unlikely. Will my pay increase automatically though ? I seem to remember there was a slight increase after six months. Of course I understand it will now decrease automatically with unlimited D2D in relative terms but I am sure the hourly rate should increase,,,slightly !!!

You're meant to have a "review" with the manager and they'll then confirm whether you're staying, going or having the trial period extended.

However, what does happen, is bugger all and you don't know anything and start to wonder whether you've still got a contract or not and whether you're working for nothing.

I asked my manager about 8 months into the job what happened about my trial period and he went "Oh yeah, it's fine, you're permanent now". Well, thanks for letting me know!

Thanks for that,,,sounds about right !! I will just see what materialises. Communication never normally goes much beyond "Can you work your day off ?" and "Will you do some overtime ?"

They will send you a new contract every 12 weeks, well two actually, one for you to sign and send back, and one for you to keep.

I suspect after six months months you've found the job to be a real trial.

I had my 3 month one a month late, cant remember if I had a 6 month one.

Your pay should increase 40-50p an hour after six months and then again after your first 12 months and that's you up to the max.

i finished my trial 3 weeks ago, dom didnt even know i was there 6 months, he argued i was only there 4.

but nothing happened, got my wage increased and my hours cut due to summer lapsing, i am now on the lookout for a new job
