So what do you all think of this 'new concept' ?
Royal Mail is developing a new concept called 'Leave With My Neighbour'.
You would be supplied with a free official sticker or sign that you could put up on your front door or window so that if you happen to be out when postal staff come to deliver your parcel, it instructs them to leave items with a neighbour of your choice if items are too big to be delivered through your door.
The delivery staff would then post a note through your door informing you that a delivery has been made to the neighbour of your choice.
This service would not be used for items that require a signature from the recipient.
The other day came across post-it note stuck on door "If out deliver to no.15". Went to no.15, bloke answers the door. Takes one look at the packet in my hand and yells "F*ck off !!!" and slams the door in my face. That'll be a docket then, thinks I.

I used to deliver to someone who ordered loads of packets and was NEVER in. He had a note on his door saying "If out leave with..." and then about 6 house numbers!
I told him, I don't have time to go knocking on the doors of half the estate! If we're meant to allow 2 mins or so to allow someone to get to the door, then we more or less have to allow the same amount of time for the neighbours so that'd be nearly 15 mins I'd have been there delivering just the one bleedin parcel!
Is this a wind up !
Its not new! we all been doing this forever.
if some some royal mail think tank just thought this up though i wouldn't be surprised .

Sod that; if they are not in, I don't even bother with a neighbour even if they ask, P739 and I'm on my way. Might even put them off ordering more blooming stuff from the interweb, instead of getting off their arses and supporting the shops in town.
This is Royal Mail starting to think,a little to late about the impact of all those new products and services coupled with the new delivery methods.
Callers offices and small local Post Offices only have so much room for undelivered tracks,specials,recordeds and packets and it's only going to get worse.
If you are faced with carrying an item all around your delivery you will try a little harder to get rid of it,if you have a van handy.....not so much.
when the punter applies for their sticker do they have to sign a disclaimer so we don't get the blame when the theiving beggar next door nicks it? P739 is the safest way and besides which what else would they do in the callers offices??

12, 18, 26 or over the road with 9, 17, 31. now if this lady thinks I've time to walk up and down the road knocking on every ones
door to try and deliver her packet, well
mind you could be worth a £1 on the lotto.

I go out of my way to get rid of packets, look for sheds, neighbours etc. If I had a van I'd card the lot, but on foot I can't stand lugging around packets. When I pick up my next carefully weighed bag, it's going to be overweight when I add all the undelivered packets.
Leave all your p739s in your drop box when you pick up your next bag.
Ask your driver to collect them, either at the end of his duty (if time allows) or when he drops the bags off the next day, ours do.
if i had to carry all my 739s round i would need two bags on the busy days

You'll soon be using 'new delivery methods' so you won't have to worry about it.
