Uniform question.

My place you're meant to wear everything that RM supply but MOST of the people have at least ONE piece of their own clothing ...... and LOADS have 2 or more .

Having socks as part of the uniform would save me a fortune.
It would be better than a pay rise.

I think every office should have a full length mirror by the exit door. And then some posties could see what they actually look like before they go out delivering to the public. Some in my office look like right gimps!If you met them down the road you would not know they posties Except for a red bag over their shoulder.

Because some of it - especially the trousers and new fleeces are cr@p.

of the royal mail supplied uniform i only tend to wear the red polo shirts, the trousers get wet if u even think about sneezing, the shorts were found in a carry on camping set, the fleeces zips break constantly, the boots should be added to the weight of ure pouch bags (magnums), the cats are alright unless theres any dew about, feet soaked this morning infact.

my normal personal uniform

craghoppers cargo trousers/combat shorts
berghaus lightweight rainjacket - tenner off ebay
royal mail cats/karrimor hiking trainers (waterproof) - got some merrels on the way which are supposed to be superb

the standard uniform is an utter joke and i know i shouldnt have to use my own stuff for work, but rather than accept getting wet/cold/retard feet/ id rather use my own stuff. My doms never really cared about non uniform as long as it aint outrageous - white trainers he aint impressed with though.

I spend 6 days a week in work attire, I want to be both comfortable and look somewhat ‘normal’! Currently I wear my own shorts footwear and hat (I am 28 and like brand names). Historically I have waited months on end for delivery with repeat order after repeat order for uniform.
When I joined the Royal Mail some six years ago I Wanted a return to the tie and shirt and the professionalism that it demanded, however we now have tatty polo shirts and non-conformance to uniform standards (me included unfortunately).

I've had few problems with the uniforms tbh, anything that was defective I got replaced and have never had to wait longer than a week for something I've ordered. I do think the fleeces are a let down, no probs with the zips like several people have mentioned but they are useless to wear in the winter; the wind blows right through them. I'll stick to my Harrington, I'm fortunate enough to still have one with with the body-warmer liner that unzips from inside

People saying they've waited several months for things need to get a grip, it doesn't take several months for stuff to arrive unless there's a stock issue! If it's been longer than a week it's not been sent or the lazy tosser of a manager hasn't bothered to ordered it so get back on his case lol. As has already been said it's daft to wear out your own clothes when RM supply a FREE uniform obviously some people have issues with footwear but there's really no excuse for people going out the door with a pair of Levi 501s and £100 Nike Air trainers on; that's just wasting your own money and nice gear . There is also a H&S issue with the footwear. If you slip up and hurt yourself, trip or even get knocked over by a car and your not wearing the correct equipment (High-Viz, shoes etc) RM will hang you out to dry

In the winter I usually wear my own coat, warm and doesnt soak up water like a sponge, unlike the RM fleece.

Apart from that I pretty much wear what they give me. Even the shorts that barely reach below my arse

Have you tried wearing shoes over your socks ?
i do, on my grandmother's advice, and I rarely buy new socks now.

People saying they've waited several months for things need to get a grip, it doesn't take several months for stuff to arrive unless there's a stock issue!

Indeed there was a stock issue hence why I had to wait over 12 weeks for Shorts & blue shirts. I like the uniform just wish it was smarter and would instil more pride in some !
